Today's instal:
New lifting arms for rear hatch. Now it goes all the way up and I won't bang my forehead any more
Replaced gasket on oil cap. It was rock hard and leaking oil.
Also replaced all the courtesy light switches. No more flickering.
Still have tonnes to install. Hand brake cable, accelerator cable, reman starter, steering shaft seal, brake pads, and more.

We arrived in Germany last week, and last weekend my wife decided Marjan needed a "Mini Me".
All it needs is some meats and a snorkel and we'll be a matching pair. I was kind of hoping we'd score a nice little Autobahn screamer, but a Liberty it is.

An M3 or E63 would've been my preference...
I would actually choose the new M1 over the M3.
My friend has a convertible, and it might be the best BMW ever made. The power and grip is unbelievable. I cannot imagine what the coupe is like.
If we stay here long term, I think I will build a racing Mini, or perhaps a Hayabusa powered Austin Healy. Both are still relatively cheap in Europe.

Do yourself a favor...get the fastest American made car you can afford while in Germany...i.e. New Mustang, new Camaro or maybe Dodge Challenger...you will have a blast with it while you're there and you will make a ton of new german friends that want a ride...my german neighbor's dream car that he lusted after was a red mustang...most germans never see anything above a 2.0 liter engine due to taxes imposed on higher displacements...I'm assuming your work is government affiliated and you can purchase fuel on a military base? If so, I highly highly suggest buying something that makes no practical sense and driving the crap out of it as fast as you can...you'll thank yourself later...either that or get a giant pickup truck and I swear to god, you will have more German friends than you know what to do with and they'll manage to have you in every village festival parade....

Ummmm......something like that. And don't forget we usually do the install at least twice just for fun.
I drove it for the first time in three weeks due to work out of town. I used it to drop off our mr scratchy dog at the doggy dermatologist for allergy testing. Yes that is a real thing and you don't want to know what it cost. We learned he was allergic to everything.
