Unless you happen to own millions of acres like there is, public land in states like; Idaho, Montana, Utah, Colorado, etc. I stand by my statement. Lol

So you want the government to own all the land????? Not a good idea. Not a good idea at all!

Lol. What do you think public land is? How about the majority of Moab? The most famous trails in California? engineer, Imogene, and black bear passes in Colorado??? All are owned by the government. No one one single person could own all that land. You would essentially be cut off. Good luck wheeling your 80 on your 20 acres. Hell in Texas a friend's family owned 2200 acres and I drove around it and wondered what was next. If you just like to drive over rock piles cool not much land needed but if you like to actually get out and explore, you're going to be on public land owned by the government.

:worms: I was simply saying that if you have the means to own the land, then you may not necessarily want people wheeling all over it. I personally wish there was a little more national land in Texas, but at the same time the land that they would own is instead owned by individuals which allows for personal preference vs. government control. I might have taken your "Tejas Sucks" comment a little too personally. Apologies, but she's been really good to me for 44 years, so I'm a little partial.

The majority of state land is not economically good for anything. You can't farm, ranch or build communities on the peaks of the Rockies or in the canyons and desserts across the west. If people could make money with those lands they would no longer be "public." It's all about the almighty dollar! We have access only because the government hasn't found a way to pimp the land for a profit. Personally I hope it stays that way!

Good luck wheeling your 80 on your 20 21,563 acres.
FIFY.

Just hope the gubmit doesn't decide they don't want you on it. Here we have privately owned off-road parks.

Texas still sucks... :flipoff2:

I am sooooooo happy that the gov't owns the Nation Parks. Putting that into private hands would fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck it all up.

Finally got the raw hinge and turn to close clasp. Feels good to have this finished! Nothing like saving $160 by putting in the time yourself.

Put a nice finish to it and try to sell it for cost. How would you like that? I'm not a vendor, but you can't bash them for providing a service and making a living too.

Curious how 'liking' someone's post and then 'bashing' them for 'bashing' works?

Also, I'm not bashing anyone or any company. I'm taking some pride in learning to weld. Thanks for the comment, though. [emoji53]

I'll play the Texas game too.

Texas sucks...

in so many Californians.

^^^What he said. I do find it curious how many Californians move to Texas for the thriving economy, low cost of living, high education standards, lower crime rates, no state income taxes, liberal gun laws, etc.....but I rarely hear of Texans moving to Ca for all the National Land, high cost of living, low education standards, high crime, fires, earthquakes, drought, government controlled guns, high state income...sales...property taxes, Smog inspections (another worthless tax) , but maybe I'm just talking to the wrong people?

You do have great weather though...I'll give you that. There are crap areas in every state, but I stand by statement that Texas is awesome!

I like the product you made and the fact that you put the time and sweat in to make it happen.

This is what I was referring to: "Nothing like saving $160 by putting in the time yourself."

I do as much work on my car as I can, so I like it even better when I can save a buck while doing it.
Lots of people here like to "stick it to the vendors" when they come up with something on their own. I love it when people do the work themselves and are talented and come up with a decent product. But, rubbing it in that the vendors make too much money selling us some products is not nice and it's also untrue. They dedicate a lot time to come up with a specific product and their time is valuable too. Whether they do it in their spare time or full time, someone's time should be compensated for.

I would boot attempt to build my own rack for a few reasons. I don't have the necessary tools (they cost money to acquire), it takes time to lear how to properly use it (and time as I said is valuable), it will take a few trials to make the product good and that's is a waste of material, knowledge, time and money especially if you don't intend on recouping your investment by selling more of those products.
For that reason I will not bash the vendors and I will buy their products if I need them.

Texas has "high education standards". HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Coming from the state that wanted to include "Intelligent Design" in its Science curriculum. :hillbilly: :hmm:
