Just successfully changed out a very leaky and squeaky power steering pump in my 91! Thanks IH8MUD for all the previous posts on the subject because getting the pulley off of the old pump was a chore! Little elbow grease and all is good!!!!

My snorkel cam grabbed this picture during some exploring in AZ desert. Great time of year to be in AZ.

Went to the beautiful mountains in Puerto Rico and spent some time with good friends! BTW, temperature 70-75 degrees! Sorry for you guys in the cold!

Nice camping spot, I'm jealous. .

I will start a build thread soon now that I have something decent to show

Got some new tires and a wash

So, Claudia and I want to be out on the trails as much as we can over the holidays. While running Bulldog Canyon just outside of Mesa, AZ (easy dirt, couple of rougher/bumpier stretches, most of it 2WD in the Blazer, but: really nice desert and great scenery), it occurred to us that we ought to try and re-create some of our own history:

First pic: March 2005, Claudia in the FJ40, near where the frame was taken that made it into the Toyota calendar for 2006.

Second pic: taken today, off of memory (I didn't have my GPS/pic computer in the truck...); Claudia in her new-to-her LX... I think I almost got it. I think we're a little too far up the trail, but that's hindsight now that I can see the old pic.

The road's been graded sometime last year, so it's quite different, as all the FJ40-tire-lifting washouts are gone. There's a permit needed to access the area, and it's quite pleasing to see Saguaro cacti that are not all shot up...

That's some postcard material right there! Gorgeous locale you have there, enjoy!

However this trip did not ended so well. First was the headlight relay went bad while driving a really dark highway. Next tailpipe suffered some damaged and was rubbing against the drive shaft and last the steering arm 4 bolts sheared! The truck is down until the 26th.

Wow that sucks!! This is a perfect example of why everyone should routinely check the tourque spec of the knuckle studs. If wheeling they should be checked often.

Started to add a fairing to my old Confer roof rack. That grey stuff is Rust Bullet paint. Happy Christmas Eve.

Drive Shafts / Tranny

Putting these babies back in after I drop the old tranny and put in a less worn tranny and TC this week.

Should be an adventure. Had the drive shafts serviced at Chattanooga Driveline, they were fast and did an excellent job. New u joints (oem of course), cleaned, greased and balanced. Dropped them off around 2pm yesterday and picked up this morning.

Winched mom's civic up the driveway. Didn't even move the 80, just opened the garage door and pulled cable to the civic.

Mom needs new tires, extremely bald all seasons don't cope with ice on even a slight incline apparently.

To hammer home the point about new tires, I heard a loud leak coming from her right rear so that had to be changed... and then she mentioned that her washer fluid was frozen in the lines so I changed that out for some cold weather stuff.

Entertaining Christmas morning lol.
