Replaced the two front calipers, rotors, and pads. The passenger side caliper had two stuck pistons on the outside which caused the pad to heatcycle enough to crack the rotor straight through on that side, and the driver side had one stuck piston on the outside. Then went to Caffeine and Octane and posted up with the 4wd crowd. Also got featured in the reader's ride section of Petersen's 4 Wheel and Off-Road magazine!

Upcoming cheap fixes: Remove visor, black out gold emblems, swap tires from my fj40 to this, (if they fit) alternator and fix windows.

Expensive projects: Get seat tears fixed, ($300) rear bumper, rock sliders, lift, snorkel, stereo/nav and fix my Land Rover, sell it and buy an expedition trailer.

Did you pick that one up near Portland? I saw that one on craigslist, though if I recall he wanted too much money for what it was. Hope you got him down on the price. I picked mine up local to me. I am happy with it. Got some minor fixes to do. Enjoy.

Yeah. He started advertising in the high 10's, then it dropped and dropped and dropped a little more. It finally got down to a price that I could live with and then I offered him a bit less. I got what I wanted for a price that I was willing to pay.

'94, right color, 1FZ, ARB front bumper, winch, factory lockers that work well, decent interior and only 133k miles. Once I get the seats fixed and detail/polish it, I could probably sell it for a couple thousand in profit... if I didn't love it so damn much. Even my wife is really getting into it. She loves it WAY more than my '99 Land Rover that's pretty respectably built, but actually seems small inside compared to this thing.

Love it, so far!

Got stuck in blizzard 20 miles from any civilization. (Had been waiting for my cdl switch to arrive but ending up ripping out the dash and shoving the hazard switch in it-now my blinkers don't work)

Anyway, an hour of digging, with all diffs locked, and buried to the frame, I was able to her out...

Piks to come shortly....I did learn a few things: larger tires and a lift and I wouldn't have gotten into the problem.

Secondly, I am sure everyone on here knows this, or will at least act like they do ;) out of desperation I tried various techniques in the end the two that pulled me through was "rocking" the throttle and...this one surprised me, gently pressure on the gas andat time the beast would crawl through the snow. Hard to explain, but I was impressed how gunning it did little to nothing, but gently pressure worked well.

Also with the cdl engaged in H and both diffs locked, at time the engine would not allow me to go over 2krpm...is that normal.

Pics when I get a quicker connection....

Any difference after swapping all 3 mounts? I have some in cab noise and vibration that sure feels like worn out mounts...

None at all. It definitely need them though. As you can see in the picture I posted, the driver side motor mount was so mangled, I couldn't even get the top metal bracket off. Starting to think the noise is coming from my trans case instead. Next project: drop drive shafts until I can isolate the noise and figure out why she's whining.

Do you have the "2nd" button? This might have helped.

Wow! One of those rigs looks familiar. :)

No, you would have gotten stuck deeper and further away from civilization ;)
I was going to post the same thing ha! Only thing lift and bigger tires will let you do is go a little farther before you get REALLY stuck. Ask me how I know.

Finished up my roof rack project. Finished painting the rack and sealing the holes in my roof from the stock rack. Then threw it up there! Turned out pretty good but it took a lot longer to clean up the rack than I thought. When you figure in all your time, sometimes I wonder the value of refurbishing vs buying new. I figure I saved about half the cost of new and right now I got (slightly) more time than money!

In the last 20 years I have probably painted my big Confer rack more than a dozen times. The first real paint job I put on it was nice (paint gun, good paint), but it did not hold up to the abuse. After that it has always involved some time with a drill/wire wheel, then rattle can primer and paint. Usually easier if you do it soon after each larger expo. I am pretty good (read fast) at it now. Probably a bit different for me, as I only throw the big roof rack on for the trips where I need it (so access to the rack is easier for me).

got tired of looking at my clear coat peeling away on the hood so I painted it with a light textured bed liner. will sand and redo the clear coat on the rest of the hood once i install hood vents from my wifes old 91 lumina from high school. turned out pretty good i think.

Haha thanks man, she really looks great after a good wash.

New oil pump seal, crank seal, idler pulley and OEM drive belts installed. Then I drained/filled front and rear diffs and transfer case with fresh Dino juice....
