Looks good! How do you like the tent and awning?

It's awesome! I hope to be using it a ton in the near future.

Looks nice. How do they sound? I really need some new speakers!!
Did you do the fronts too?

EDIT: I see you said FRONT and rear.

IMHO they have a little midrange suckout but that can be fixed with some eq.

But i am an audio snob.

The range of possible speakers that fit in these are pretty limited, and the polks are probably the best you can get to fit.

I would agree with your thought's on the midrange. Do you think it's specifically related to the speakers? I figured it was the 16 year old hu.

Rolled around the AZ Strip

That little puddle of oil came out of nowhere!

All is well and a beautiful weekend on the AZ strip

Please! I just bought a starter adruino kit and am looking forward to do some hacking!

Tried to start a thread, spent an hour on a good tech write-up, went to attach a pic and everything froze! Lost everything.
i think ih8 this site!
Maybe I'll get some coffee and try again. I had to look up what an arduino kit was, looks like a lot of fun. I still do it the hard way.

Finished up my Puma 12v compressor install...

Whoa!

I am driving mine with the Kenwood DVD/navigation HU referenced in my signature. So it's not the HU.

They start out awful (IMHO) but over the first couple weeks they do open up a bit.

They are way better than the 4" pioneers the PO installed.

I have a set of the 6.5" pioneer ts-g1644r that I plan to install in the back doors when all this cold white crap goes away. I wonder how they will compare.

I have some little aurasound fullrangers I plan to install in the dash speaker positions for midrange support, will be driven by a tiny 20w Tripath amp board.

Rear brake job

What started out as a simple "replace the rear pads" on my kid's LC, turned out to be a small nightmare on a sunny and clear Saturday afternoon.

He wore the pad down to the backing plate... the pad backing plate sheared off and dropped down between the rotor and the dust shield...which left the piston to do much of the stopping power - about a quarter of an inch worth...ouch.

Honestly, you could not hear it. Not sure when it happened. Of course anything LC related in Michigan is a 1 to 2 day shipping deal at my local NAPA and should be ready this afternoon.

Will pick up the new caliper tonight, but I'm not sure about replacing it. It is forecast to down to -11 F when I will finally have the time - and it's outside. A fairly easy job (it is all apart) becomes x10 harder when you can't feel your extremities.

BTW, thanks to this website, I found out how to crack off the stoopid rear brake drum. Who knew those two dinky radiator bolts would come in handy?!

Thanks IH8MUD (fellow members), you've helped me out again!

If you're critical about audio, I suggest running the same speakers front and rear.

Also, if imaging is important to you, forego the dash speakers as they sit 90 degrees off-axis to the door speakers. This location is better suited to a CB speaker or hands-free speaker. Besides, your shins don't need midrange support.

Boring stuff - washed her and changed the oil. She hadn't had a bath since the DV trip before Thanksgiving.

Is that TSF? I need to get up there soon, not for that trail though in my setup (FB5?).

Yup, FB5. Everything was pretty good until we got to the last section near crushers, my friend and I both got door dings on the same door on the same tree and ended up having to cut off trail to get to the main section that goes up to crushers. That top section is just too tight in an 80 series if there's any chance of sliding around.

Just some advice: Whenever typing a long post, I like to do a quick "CTRL-A" and CTRL-C", then whatever I typed is saved just in case. There are a couple good ways to post pics; one is to buy a silver star and support the site (look in your User CP under memberships) and the other is to host them on a 3rd party site such as Picasa or Photobucket.

Eh, I'm a headphone guy. speaker audio always sounds mashed up to me. all this trouble with room acoustics, positioning, etc. More than one driver total per side? heresy!

I may or may not keep the pioneers in the back after i install them. I ordered them during my "oh god it's horrible" stage after getting the polks installed.

I still have excremental 4" coaxial pioneers in the rear doors that must go.

Thanks for the advice, any help is welcome to this newbie.

Doh! Sorry to hear that. The last time I tried to do that I was in an K5 Jimmy w/ 37s. It wasn't too bad, but it was very skinny in places. I certainly won't consider it in my stock FZJ.
