Is that the same truck from the other thread where a buyer walked? I wasn't sure if you were serious and you posted early in that thread. I posted that I would have bought that truck but everyone else was writing "first instinct, walk!" on that truck. Too bad I am on the wrong coast for that truck.
Yes it was I have been talking with the guy for two months but he wanted to much for me to be comfortable with. He reached out and it worked out. It’s totally rust free been in Oregon for it’s life and just never maintained. It’s leaking from every seal in the engine bay. Ordered $1500 from partsouq to do a solid baseline. Brakes, knuckles and a new OEM radiator are already done so that helps.

Oh, you are the guy I suggested grind a socket for the water pump bolt. Nice perseverance doing everything on the street! 💪
Yep! Ruined a perfectly good socket but it worked like a charm!

I mean, $1500 isn't that bad on top of purchase price to get a triple locked 80 without rust.

My comment from that post.
I would be a buyer, but I would also plan on putting money and time into it.

If you can't do it yourself, you would still have thousands left in your budget to pay someone else to do it.

Yah over on this side of the USA a locked 80 cleaned up and the basic Pm work it will bring 12-25k depending on condition.

Flushed the heater core today as it only heats sporadically, hopefully this will solve the issue. Will test in the coming days

Also dealt with some rust in the rear window frame

Also refurbished the taillights a bit, was about to paint the black surroundings as they were quite faded but then found some exterior plastic refurbisher gel which brought back the color nicely

Got back out on the 80 this afternoon. Installed a new DS seat belt, oak is NLA but I’ll take a brand new belt even in grey, I don’t think it looks too bad. Replaced the rear door DS light switch and gave it a quick bath. Pollen is pouring off the trees right now so I didn’t go crazy, good enough for the coming week.

That’s the best US interior in my opinion, I have the same in grey.

Cheers

Thanks and I agree, I’d donate a body part to find the DS seat bottom fabric. I keep thinking there’s one somewhere in a closet or warehouse. Mine’s still holding up but a little threadbare.
