eBay Snorkel Install. Was hoping it would be a Safari knockoff w/ lettering on the side but no luck.

I feel like I got the snorkel pretty flush to the fender, is the upper half supposed to be that far away from the column? I couldn't really get it closer unless but maybe I was doing something wrong

There will be a little distance. On my last 80 I installed a snorkel and there was a little. It never caused any issues.
 
So what started out as rebuilding the axles and cleaning up the undercarriage during the Covid "work from home days" has now morphed into a full restoration starting with the outside. Premier Autosports here in Richardson, TX will be doing the honors and they have been fantastic to work with so far! The goal is to bring it back to its former glory as when it rolled off the factory floor. Other than the addition of an ARB front bumper, the vehicle will remain as "stock'ish" and OEM as it can be (285 or 305 tires too). I've been ordering and squirreling away new parts for a few months now so it will be refreshed with nothing but the best (ie, Toyota!)...they even tracked down an OEM windshield already (fingers crossed that they actually did).

With that said, and the million dollar question...should I stay with the original roof rack or go with something else? I have a Gamiviti ordered for the 200 that should be here in a few weeks but it will be doing most of the overlanding work vs the 80 which will be my garage queen/pick up the kids from school/poke around town/occasional trail rig.

Whatever you do, do not drill or mount the OG roof rack. Take your pick of of solutions for a rack. But anything but the original.

Me? Bownfin or Prinsu would be my firsts.
 
Went to the beach after washing it. Fort DeSoto. No sign of the Laundrie guy. Though I was ready to cross paths with him.

No roof rack. If you change your mind, do a gutter mount later on for times in need. These trucks look too good slicktop.
I agree, no roof rack is best. If you want one later, add one that attaches to gutters. Far superior.

Leave the roof naked. Stock if you feel like you need something. All the aftermarket stuff will be noisy and a waste of money and will throw off the stock aesthetic.
 
I had the slee also and went delta. The slee, unfortunately, was not very rigid. Did not fit as well as I thought it should either. The delta is a bit of a pain to install but, very rigid and much cleaner. The only negative is that I originally wanted to access the grommet in the fire wall behind the delta to run all wiring to my new dual battery setup from my Witsend QPM and switchpros setup. The Delta blocks that. In all other ways, it is superior.
Good info. I fully plan to run line to passenger rear to power fridge by way of mounted fuse block in the rear. Are you saying the Delta prevents running something like 4 AWG from second “house” battery to the rear?

I’m focusing on the wiring end of things with this relocation deal really just a part of it. I didn’t realize it needed more thought. Glad I see not all kits offer the same experience!
 
Exhibited at Expo West with my shop Rhino Adventure Gear. Met a handful of Mud members in person and all around had fun working in the day and camping and cooking at night. Saw quite a few nice 80s too! Took proper detours to and from Flagstaff also.

I'd argue that the Delta bracket leaves more usable engine compartment space, not less. It's tucked pretty much as far back as possible against the firewall, and is not at all in the way of wiring for dual battery setups, fridge wiring, or York OBA plumbing.

I have not gotten that far yet on mine. I think I am going to drill a new hole in the fire wall and use a new grommet such as the one below. I don't want to route the cables from the passenger side, through the driver side grommet that is still accessible and then back to the passenger side battery. Doesn't make sense so, I just need to figure out where/how to get there in as strait a line as possible.

What everyone else said already + if 2 vendors make a product and @Delta VS is one of them, buy Delta and never look back. Buy once, cry once.
 
Removed “factory” roof rack today. 24 year old double sided tape sucks… Glad I did, have some rust around nutserts. Will drill them out and JB Weld tomorrow. 80s look great slick top but will add a full rack later.

Nice! Love shooting 22’s. My favorite plinker’s are my Victory and MKIV. They’re a hoot to shoot suppressed.
Yeah, I definitely love my .22's it's the only caliber I have more than one gun chambered in. The Buckmark is about as good as it gets for a pack or truck pistol for taking small game/survival scenarios.

I am jealous of your suppressors, I just started the paperwork for my first suppressor, I should have done it years ago.

Pulled this guy out. It was a reman from RockAuto I put in last year. Excellent paint job btw...

Installed this guy. This is the original to the truck. I rebuilt it using Box Rocket's thread but I never could get the play out of it and the ball bearings tried to bind. So, with the 105 shaft in it, I shipped it off to RedHead. They got it on a Tuesday and it was on the way back to me by Friday. I'll be updating after the test drive on if that finally solved all my wandering.

Also added a backup camera on the license plate. Pretty nice to be able to see what's directly behind me now. And then there's the second battery tray I installed. Might get all of that wired up since it's supposed to rain the next 4 days.

I've been mulling over getting a .22 pistol. I have an M&P 15-22 and it's the most fun thing. I really want to add a Mark IV or Buckmark.
