Are you supposed to air down for snow/ice? Just got home from Lake Arrowhead...4' of snow/icy roads. Aired down to 22. I was sliding all over the place!
I air down for deep snow. Never air down for ice. Just easy on the throttle, brakes, and steering. And, find a good steady speed, too slow is just as bad as too fast.

Added some little mud flaps in front of my rear tires.

Do you have M/T's? If so they usually will. A/T's with more siping will fair much better. It's a trade off.

Toyo AT-II. Never felt sliding like I did today and have been in many mountain towns during winter. Tahoe/Mammoth/Utah/etc. Conditions were pretty bad, which is why I felt the need to air down. 1st time I've done it in hard pack snow/ice. Won't be doing that again...

Bought some 315/75r16 Yokohama Geolandar's for black friday. Fist impressions are they run slightly narrower than my Toyo MT's. Honestly, I thought I'd notice the 15lb weight difference per tire, but I don't. They look pretty cool and I'm excited to have some new tires for my next trip. Only reason I replaced my tires was for piece of mind, as my wife and I travel solo a lot through the Mexican back country.

Old tires for sale, still plenty of life left!

And I've lived here in Solana Beach (NC SD) my entire 37 years of life, and I believe this is the only 2nd time I've seen this mountain snow capped. Unfortunately don't know the name. Thought it was a cool... Hard to see it but it is right in the center of the picture.

Yeah, regular pressure or you float on top. Fresh snow trails I air down to float on top. Icy packed highways/roads I run regular to help dig/push down to asphalt.

Got about 2 inches of ice around here this morning. Left camp and did some exploring. Managed to swerve onto the shoulder while checking the map. Before I could get back on the road I caught a downed tree. It hit really hard but manage to drive away with just a bent steering bar and some minor bumper related damage which is good because I had about 75 miles to home.

I hope your wife wasn't in the car. The loss in good husband points is monstrous from that sort of thing.

I have been so busy and focused with school lately that I haven't been doing anything fun with the rig. It snowed and rained a bunch earlier this week so I figured I would get out and do some exploring today.

Took advantage of the long weekend to do a few maintenance related items. I had 17 things on my list and knocked out 15 of them. Mostly very small items. While she was sitting in the garage I noticed 2 small drips. One from the front and one from the rear. The rear leak was the LSPV. The inner O rings had basically died. I did the mod suggested by @excessive . Leak has stopped so hopefully all Is good now.

The front leak was the power steering..

There is an O ring where the hard line mates with the power steering pump. I swapped the O ring with a replacement and all is good.

On the good side of things I upgraded my @NLXTACY air coupler to a new version with the Anderson SB 50 electrical connector. My portable solar panel and battery charger now have the anderson connectors so this makes thing real simple.

One weird thing I did notice was with one of my tires. These are Cooper ST Pro Discoverers. Notice how the tread is somewhat scalloped, Any idea what causes this?

Which lugs are Worn? Outside lugs or center lugs? I can't tell from the pic.
