It was gutted at this point, needed to get it out of where it was to cape it and quarter. Took it to the processors right after. She’s in a tarp, and yes the cruiser smelled a little off for a day or two, but it’s the smell of victory. Haha. You wouldn’t know something large and dead was in it today, just smells like an old Toyota.
Begging the question, do all old Toyotas smell like death? ;-)

Made some progress. Missing a few more parts but 4x4 labs has sent them quickly. Hopefully I will get the tire carrier and jerry can carrier done and mounted tomorrow. Then i can clean up welds and send it off to powder coat.

Chinaman Gulch also removed my rear tailpipe for me after reshaping it multiple times, which allowed me to melt the factory bumper on the drive home.:hillbilly: @LC4LIFE this bumper probably wont survive the winter, both sides caved in and pointed every which way!

After trimming as much off as possible with a razor knife.

That's just the resonator. You'll have to cut it off anyways when you add a 4x4Labs rear bumper.

Hauled a 1949 International truck out of the bush and through a field.

Plus first time taking the truck out with the new front bumper I made.

Rad :) Finder keepers? Love old metal.

Replaced the heater valve that was showing signs of yellowing.

I got a dilemma. The interior is a 10/10 (seats are like brand new under the covers and carpet is perfect). Runs like a top. BUT it has a little rust behind the driver’s wheel well and on the passenger side rear door. Negotiating. This will be for my son if the price ends up being right. Will know tomorrow!

Show more pics of the 49. My Dad had a 49 Int'l that was green just like that one. I wish I had it back. I would SO make that a street rod!

His asking price was unrealistic. But he’s motivated. (Thank you to his wife!) I offered him a fair price for a 31 year old Land Cruiser with 201k miles, rust, bad tires, and oxidized paint. If he doesn’t take it my son will continue to have to drive his 80. I think he’ll survive...

60 prices around here are out of this world right now... Cheaper to buy a 100 series (almost...)

Oh yeah, forgot about my “on trail repair” of the resivoir to the radiator. I noticed it was leaking, so I popped the hood to see it not on it’s bracket and the bracket rubbed a hole into it. I took it out and tried to figure out what to do. The plastic felt similar to a ziptie I had. Grabbed a lighter and set it to low, after cleaning off the bottle I started in with the heat, going very slowly. As it just started to melt I started melting the ziptie into it too, like welding rod. I filled the entire hole and then smoothed it out with a little more heat and let it cool. Well, 400+ miles later, 1/4 of that was off-roading if not more, it’s still not leaking. I’m surprised, but the repair actually looked good. I’ll prob put some epoxy in it soon to make sure it doesn’t fail, but my buddy(diesel mech) was very impressed by it and me for coming up with it. I’ve never plastic welded successfully before, so I was more surprised than anyone.
