Here is our rattle trap. We rescued it from the junk yard a few weeks ago. It had already been cannibalized a bit. Needs a front bumper and a rear bumper. Just picked up a fuel door from Panamintpaul. It has so many things to be done but I am excited to get going. It sat for over 3 years in an auto shop. The owner never came back for it. Sun roof is not closing all the way and the driver side window won't roll up. There is a lot to do. But we'er happy with it.

So my 13 year old Son is super excited that I bought a 91' Cruiser last month. It is a rattle trap but its ours and we love it. Every weekend he asks, "are we going camping?" So as we were driving back from a somewhat unsuccessful trip to the bone yard to find some parts, I decided to check out the State Beach campsites. One had come available for an overnighter. The campsite is not even a full mile from home but he was so happy that we were camping and so was I. We sat around the campfire until after midnight watching I am Jake and Overland Bound on YouTube. It was great fun and we are planning our next outing for 2 weeks.

Hell yeah! This is awesome! I love hearing stories like this!

I went out to a customer's house to design and sell them a deck. A corner of their deck had sagged about 3". He says "I put another post in and bottle jacked it."

"Dude!! That's a Land Cruiser jack!"

His brother left it behind from one of his Cruisers. It looks freaking brand new except for the corrosion on the shaft.

We talked Land Cruisers and how bad a$$ they are. I drive my 93 for work so he's looking at it and stuff. I'm leaving and he opens his garage to go inside. What's in his garage? A Jeep!

For the record, I didn't mock Jeeps. I like making money! Call me a sellout all you want!

I'm right down the street. If you need help with any repairs, let me know.

Larry Briggs, you probably know this, the sunroof can be opened and closed manually. Take the map light cover off, there is an access hole forward of and between the two switches where a common screw driver can be used to open and close the sunroof. The FSM shows a special tool for the job (a common screw driver shank bent 90*).

Thanks for posting this! I'm almost your exact build and I've been looking for seats that won't hurt my lower back so much. Looks like I'll be on the hunt for these now!

Swapped in some 2010 Camaro SS cloth Seats last weekend that I found locally for $200. Mounts weren't too bad, Just had to cut off the Camaro feet, then weld on new brackets. For the rear we made a cross plate that welded to the stock LC "feet." They sit higher than stock, but not so high that your head is in the roof or looking through the top of the windshield...just feel a little taller. Driver seat has power adjust for front/back, up/down, and recline. Passenger seat is power recline, manual front/back.

I am 6'0", 260 pounds, and did a lot of research. The Camaro forums consistently had bigger guys on there stating they were the most comfortable seats they had ridden in for years. The seat back is where I really notice the most in comfort change. Contours great to my body type for sure. HUGE improvement!

Had to use a 5 pound sledge to hammer down the cross member on the tranny hump (pic is of the start of hammering...I actually pounded it down completely flat on both sides, then covered back up with the carpet).

Went wheeling and camping near Gould in Northern Colorado with some members from the local tlca club. Was a great time and I was able to test my new camping set up. The CVT awning and CVT black butte tent were awesome!

You wouldn't happen to be in State Forest State park in these pics, would you? I used to go up there with my wife for our annual "Moose Safari".

Replaced my rear drive shaft u-joints with Toyota spider kits. First time I've ever replaced u-joints on a vehicle. I had the usual vibe on the highway when letting off the gas. Also a little dull clunk/play in the drive train when shifting into park or reverse.

Install was actually a lot more pleasant than I thought it might be. I was able to fit my impact wrench to zip off the nuts which held the shaft to the transfer case and pinion flange. Just jacked up the rear axle and put the trans into neutral to spin the shaft to gain access.

Once on my bench (er I mean floor), I used my brass mallet and 22mm socket to tap the caps in a bit to remove the c-clips. I had realized that if you remove the zerk fitting first, it was much easier as the grease didn't push back at you.

Then I used my large ball joint separator and a peice of larger OD tubing to press the caps in and remove the spider. Putting the new caps in, I'd start them with my mallet then slowly press them in using the ball joint separator again.

Pic of my clean, organized work bench (floor) :

It's not exactly svelte and it can rattle a lot if not packed away snugly, but holy cow it puts out some heat. First use of it was in Canyonlands over New Years. It boiled water in 15 degree weather faster than the stove at home.

No problem! And our seatbelt receiver bolts right into the Camaro seats as well with the factory hardware. I just had to bend off the little 90 degree tabs on the factory bracket, and then set the bracket in a vice and bend it back a little. The only "complaint" I have is that the belt feels a little short and snug when buckled. Not bad or tight by any means, just noticeable when you buckle up. I might try to make an extended bracket to raise up the seatbelt receiver a few inches.

Not sure if you are interested but they have seat belt extensions that plug in for people on the plus side...

You can also pull a seat belt from the passenger side front and place it on the DS retractor. The PS is 8-10" longer than DS.
