This sounds like what I need to do. I got a little shimmy in the steering wheel. I need to do a front knuckle job but it's cold out. Next weekend looks warmer so I think I may tear in to it then. But I'm going to jack it up and check tomorrow.

Are the TG locking nuts worth it?
I think so, I put them in when I did my knuckles. If they do what they're supposed to do, and I don't see why they wouldn't, they're definitely worth it.

Thinking about changing out my plate or holding out til my next cruiser or changing out the 60s plate. Yeah yeah kinda ghey but my wife suggested it and getting for me. She's actually taking an interest in what I'm doing finally so I don't want to discourage her ;)

I like WIT5END. I'd suggest a half space between the 5 and E, so it's easier to read. WIT5 END

How's her health at 303k? HG? Oil use? Mine is at 271k with recent new HG and oil leaks fixed I have no complaints. She apparently burns no or very little oil. It's encouraging to know there are so many out there still in service at well over 300k.

Clean bill of health....
HG done as PM (with thermostat and water pump) at 178k with install of supercharger in 2004. Uses no oil between 10k mile interval changes on rotella t6 and awaiting a 300k mile Blackstone report in the mail. The rear main has shown faint weep for 12 years but just now leaving a quarter size spot in the drive over a night or two. I have a po401 that ive ignored since the EMS/magnaflow cat crumbled to pieces a couple years ago but have a Magnaflow 23120 on the shelf waiting. Got lucky on round one and modulator fixed the CEL (~100k miles ago); hopefully the new cat will solve it this time. Original transmission may finally be showing some wear with a slip in reverse under heavy load and one oddball electrical cutoff ive bypassed (circuit opening relay jumper) that needs sorting out but otherwise still a trusted steed in the stable..... enough so to finally put to use as intended on a ~30 day 7000+ mile trip out west this past spring..... need to update the ROTW

Today would be my mom's birthday. She died a little over six years ago. My son and I went ice fishing this morning. We were getting ready to leave in the 93. Instead we loaded up the 92. My mom was the one who encouraged me to buy my 92 when I was 16 when my father wouldn't. It felt fitting to take her out on a road trip and stretch her legs. Then bring her home and wash the brine off of her and put her in the garage. As always, she performed flawlessly.

To quote my mom "Don't ever sell your Cruiser. You don't want to be one of those guys that complains about selling their car when they are older." She was a smart woman.

Got my Lseat leather installed. Looks like a damn new truck now!

Removed and replaced my heater core. Still in the process of putting the dash and components back together. I plan on replacing the head unit while I have it all apart. What a bitch this has been. Not hard at all but very tedious.

I was just talking with @ariff about this today. Not the worst thing in the world but...

I've had to do much worse!

It's just a slow going job. Hardest part is getting the hoses on the back of the heater core off and the new ones back on. Not much room to work.

waiting around for my rear bearings to show up. (5 days late thanks to storms last week).

Driving over to home dopey to pick up a new splitting maul, smelled an "extreme" hot burny oil smell....thought "oh &$fi!"

Pulled over, sniff test, was def me. Popped the hood...winced....smell was a lot stronger...oh %$^%...Looked underneath, no oil dripping....looked up top...D'oh, lots of little dribbles...My dang oil cap was off...no idea how that happened, but was nestled over by the dizzy, must have spaced it. Negative 1 banana fix.

It's because you were going to the Orange store. Lowe's is the official home improvement store of Land Cruisers.

She sounds like she was a very intelligent lady! I'm sure she was watching her son and grandson today!

Okay, the actual work was done on the Grand Cherokee, but removing the roof rack from the WJ is the first step to adding it to the FZJ.

Now I need to find a good deal on rain gutter mounts and install can begin.
