Went to Mt. Shasta and ended up doing some rescuing...
![]()
It was just a couple cars at first then things got worse! People not reading the sign requiring chains, snow tires or 4x4 before continuing on this road!!
Eventually, had to call in the big guns, CHP and several tow truck as a dozen people got stranded in ditches!!! Made some new friends from Australia who had no clue how fresh snow could be this treacherous ah!
More in my build thread...

That was my excuse to order some chainsSweet deal for (2) pairs!
When you need'em you need'em. I've driven my 80 through headlight deep snow without issue at the same time there has been cases where I wished I had them. I used to have a set of 2 pairs for my 33's, but didn't fit when I went to 35's. About 3 times a year I wish I bought a larger set to have in the truck. That link above seems like a pretty good deal for a lot of peace of mind playing in the snow.I was just going to ask everyone if I NEED chains for our upcoming trip through Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, California.
I suppose it makes sense...
On the other hand, need? Probably not. Most of the state patrolers enforcing the chains or 4wd wave me through just based on the look of the truck. But when it get slick, it gets slick out there. I've adjusted my driving style for sure having a lunchbox locker in slick stuff, it doesn't help the fat ass of 80 IME.I was just going to ask everyone if I NEED chains for our upcoming trip through Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Nevada, California.

Lastly, anyone in norcal want to trade bumpers? Looking for a bigger one like an ARB. Mine is the original 4x4 labs prototype bumper from what i was told. Built by Luke, cant verify that though. It has some dings and scratches but is solid.

Already got an ARB lined up with a gentleman out of OR that it looks like will be swapping me! Plus Erics bumper is weak! haha Now I just need to find a front OEM lower light clip and mod the ARB to clear an 8274...
Depends on what you hit with it.I was gonna offer but according to Kyle my Metal Tech bumper is weak lmao.

Not oblivious to your posts or thread. I guess you have done your research as well and seen what a MT bumper can withstand. Carry-on.Well if you saw what my 60 got hit with in August you would agree with me!
@93yotasr5 knows why I wont keep something that dinky on my truck, @jcardona1 does too!

meh, I think you'll be OK. I've driven on the old BFGs for many winters with no real problems, just take it easy.
