Started my first 80 series knuckle rebuild on Friday. I purchased my 450 20,000 miles ago and I didn't have a service record showing the last time it had axle service. So I rounded up all the necessary tools and parts and took the day off to knock it out.

What spurred my desire to do it before winter was how dry the wiper seals were...

Anyway, I will have it all wrapped up tomorrow morning. I would say it's considerably easier than my 40. 8 studs instead of 16. New studs are torx. Way better.

Thanks to this forum it was a non event. Someone needs to add a tyvek suit to the list of items needed. I got greese everywhere.

Went up to go "hunting" around bear lake. The main goal of the trip was to find some snow! and the goal was achieved!! didn't even see one bird the whole time. Also think i really need to address my front shocks they are loose and the ride over the wash boarded forestry service roads was ridiculously rough in the front. Ended up at the top a mountain 6000ft up, couldn't see much up there as it was snow/raining and i was in the clouds.

Overall good day out. No damage to the truck (i think :) ) theres just a low exhaust rattle now at idle in drive not park.

I hear you, doesn't hold a candle to the mighty 3FE, but I guess if I had to spend $200k+ and had a choice of an AMG G65 or an FJ44, I would choose the Icon.

Washed the airfilter woot woot

Drug home a palette of boulders to play with at the house

Might even wash it before the day is over

Installed my Yaesu FT-7900R dual band 2m/70cm radio and comet antenna. Used the Gamiviti hood channel mount. I then used the old/unused tweeters in the dash for my external speakers.

Then I installed my ARB awning. Been waiting for a while to buy one of these. I feel like a total dork now, but I know I'll be using it during my month-long honeymoon/roadtrip down south.

Temporary location until I figure out where I should put the face. I mounted the radio underneath the seat.

Just spent the entire day driving it home from Poland, through the Czech Republic. Beautiful trip, actual difficult driving situations on decrepit roads, but zero pictures. At one point I drove across a hydroelectric dam because I was tired and p.o.'d enough, and wasn't willing to add 100 miles to my journey. And the 80 "just" fit. And no one appeared to be watching.

Did take a picture early in the day as I set out, though it was technically still Poland.

Sheesh tell about it. You are one of like three people that know about it too. It'll happen, just not soon. :(

Oops! At least I didn't give away any of the details!!!!
