We got to Stehekin rested up, drank some much needed beer and opted for the seaplane trip back to Chelan where the ladyfriend picked us up in the cruiser where we headed out to a remote cabin on the lake.

Awesome! I have been trying to talk a few buddies into that route for a few years now!

Took the cruiser out exploring the wilderness around the lake. Some seriously huge swaths of burn area from last year's monster fire season.

A cosmetic project (many more to do!), and a little help for night crawling.

The sliders were showing a lot of wear so I sanded them a bit and then rattle-canned them in hammered black. Then I installed a set of ORO

(OffRoadOnly) rock lights and put the switch on a constant hot circuit so I can control them independent of the ignition.

Hi, my name is Steve and I've gone 6 days without a CEL. I start each day with both hope and uncertainty but I'm learning to take this one day at a time. Thank you.

Started at Washington, Ca Hotel in Washington , Ca. So when we got home and I looked on my phone I couldn't believe my eyes !!! ... but when I looked at the "Ghost" on my PC computer ... it was a reflection of my shirt ... ha ... The ol power of suggestion , of being told there was a old miners ghost camp up the trail and a pic ... ha ,,, Had me goin' there for a little while ...

A little trail damage. Not happy. Taking it to the body shop to see what they can do and how much. View attachment 1306468

Save your money and use it for a silver/gold star membership!

Secure a 2x4 where the factory sub is mounted, then get a deflated basket ball or some kind and then put the ball in between the wall and the 2x4, inflate it and whalla... It will buff out for the most part.

I have the same exact damage from Rubicon, same side.

I think I made it look a bit better... I'm doing a monstaliner job this weekend so hopefully it conceals the rest!

Cheers!

While poking around these amazing roads we saw lots of these "Escape Route" flags the forest service fire fighters had deployed left over from last year. Really had me thinking how terrifying it must have been for those guys who were killed last season when the wind turned and fire overtook their truck.View attachment 1306839 View attachment 1306842

I was in Chelan last week and it was killing me because my 80 was at home... did you take Shady Pass Rd from 25 mile creek to Entiat? I really need to get back over as soon as possible.

Just takes that one time! Then I will say "I told you so!"

Joking aside....if you teach them that they are driving a 7000lb weapon they should be fine so as long as they keep that in mind when they decide to pull out the iPhone!

Painted the trim Sunday. Didn't mask it. Just shot it. It looks less $hitty than before!

80s for Everyone :)

Still one of my favorite mouse pad pictures. I picked this up at a humanitarian aid conference back in the mid 90s and still use it every day.

Shady pass will give you great views of Glacier and Lake Chelan-Sawtooth wilderness, but does not provide any challenge, still a fun overland. It's been over 10 years since I have done the drive despite the fact it is in my backyard, and that was in my 77 Chev. The cabin at the top is awesome.

Your eyes are good. We started at Shady Pass and slipped over through Slide Ridge then past Mt Baldy and back to pavement at Johnson Creek Road. We were on a timeline so we didn't quite go as far as Entiat.

Last year I took the Cruiser out on the Manson side on Grade Creek Road. This route was better. Though since last year I've replaced the suspension and fixed the AC so it was just much more pleasant overall.

Yeah I would have loved for something more technical. I'll take any suggestions for that area for next year's trip to Chelan. One of the guys I was with has a rally WRX and we were debating how how much of that road we could have done in his Subie.

That is an awesome route. Down right dangerousness when there is snow.

Most if not all. Not sure how rutted it is, but with all the fire activity the past 5 years, I am sure the USFS has kept them in fair condition.

@grizzlygibbs Some of the roads were completely impassable due to the fires. There were half burned trees that were all over the roads. I didn't have saw or axe with me so I just smashed stuff for a bit, but ultimately decided a dirt bike was the more appropriate means of motor for those paths.

Also @tractorpole, I think the road to Entiat might be closed. We were going to cut through an area when were were up at the top at about 5800' with views all the way to the Stuart range to the West and we could still see Chelan to the East when we came upon a sign on our route that went SE that the road was closed 8 miles ahead. So we had to reroute and that's where we decided Johnson Creek / Mud Creek was the way we would take back to Navarre Coulee.
