Replaced the steering dampener with an OME unti. The stock one was toast I could push and pull it open and closed with zero effort [154000 miles on it]. Was about a 30 minute drop with a pickle for and some cursing at said fork. Didn't notice a major difference in the quick trip around the block though.

Finally got around to pulling the stock front speakers [I didnt know they were pioneers?]. The cones were pretty much rotted off and one was pretty rusty. Installed some Polk Audio that I just mounted to the door panel. No rattles, not super impressed with the speakers but it does sound a million times better then it did......still have to pull one out because I screwed up the positive and negative wire on one!!!!!! In between doing this I was installing wood floors in the family room for my pregnant wife who is in series nesting mod lol.

Topped off the oil and coolant. Pulled the oil cap looks real clean underneath, pull the radiator cap and it looked like 10 very tiny white gel "blobs". Don't know how else to describe it. Looking into the radiator the coolant looks perfectly clean.

My "new" '93 rig. Bought it with a blown HG (and new radiator, right!) up in Newport Beach. 155,000mi and otherwise in great shape. PO since new. Pulling the engine and trans for the full monte "while you're in there."

A Blackstone oil sample might bring some peace of mind next time you drop the oil.

I did the famous oil pump cover gasket/o-ring and crank seal. Replaced some trans cooler hoses and the crank sensor gasket while I was in there. After reading all the threads on this repair I was fearing the worst but it was quite easy honestly. Little did I know that the dang fan shroud would be the biggest challenge to remove! :bang:

Up the hill for some mid-April "powda"

How much is a head job going for?
What exactly do I need to ask a shop for?
I heard about the valve seals, do you buy those from @cDan or @beno and bring them to shop?
I just picked up this head to get the process going.
Thx

Make sure you use new OEM head gasket. Change your thermostat including the oring seal.

Have the machine shop review the rest of the valves, valve stem seals.
New tappet cover seal.
Clean throttle body while you at it. Replace fuel filter. New exhaust and inlet manifold seal.
Check timing chain, timing chain guides and tensioner.
Replace dizzy Oring seal.
Spark plugs, spark plug tube seals.
PCV seals and hoses
Replace all silicone tubes
PHH
Perhaps EGR delete while you there and see condition of wiring.

Have your injectors serviced.

That would be my list.

I would suggest using a new head gasket as opposed to the original one.

I think my 80 was getting jealous of all the time I have been spending with my 60. So let my 80 take us out to a new beach for a late afternoon snorkel and sunset.

This ear to ear grin was from all the sea turtles popping their head out of the water that I got to go snorkel/swim with! Wish I would have had my underwater camera.

OME stock replacement suspension with man-a-fre spacers. I also removed the side steps & added the CDL switch to the dash, just before the rain!

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention Iggy's guidance, encouragement, & assistance...

I also spotted something I thought I would never, ever see: a jeep in Ingrid's driveway! She's now "Ingrid" instead of "Iggy" as a result!!
