What Did You Do with Your 80 This Weekend? (36 Viewers)

Def tires. Best place to start. I had a similar experience with BFGs. By far the worst snow/ice tire just above racing slicks.
My 80 had worn BFG's on it when I bought it and it couldn't crawl up my snowy slippery drive to my pole barn with the lockers engaged! That was my first experience with lockers (my other 80 doesnt have them) and I was suprised. Duratracs fixed that!

What did you use for a steam cleaner?

X2?

Did you have a shop do it?
Does it really remove all the grease? I am thinking bottom of the engine grease/grime...
I have wanted to clean the engine really well. Still not sure if I want to pay for a decent steam cleaner to have at the house, or just have a detail shop do it.

Just did it myself with a shark steam cleaner I had, wasn't really that bad because I pressure wash it after every wheeling trip!

Something like this then?

I would have thought you'd need something heavier duty to get those results! I think the wife has something like this, I'll have to give it a try!

Yup
I think this was the forth one this year but it was installed by Toyota so I hope warranty will get me another.

Codes 71 and 22 came up too.

Four in a year?

Something may be taking them out.

The first three went out at the same time the mechanic put a new weird looking radiator cap on it. They all lasted about a week. We put a new OEM cap on the fourth and it lasted a few months. I dunno what now until I take it apart.

I got my White Knuckle sliders today. My son and I unboxed them, did a quick test fit, and then loaded them in the back. Off to the powder coating place tomorrow.

took the kids sledding. My first real foray onto snow and ice. Ended up performing a taxi role, shuttling the little critters up the sledding hill once they got too tired to walk...
Ironically, my 80 has one of the best 4WD systems in the world, yet it handles worse than one of my kid's plastic sleds! Could it be the tires? It came with Wrangler MTRs. Wondering if having the tires siped would help. Do not look forward to driving this at icy highway speeds. And yes, I still running tire pressures in the mid 30s.
Have a look at the Toyo Open Country A/T II. Lots of confidence on snowy, icy roads and great for wheeling in the summer.

Started this weekend, finished today.
I installed new Depo lights. No relay yet for the H4 high wiring.
There is a huge improvement in lighting the road now. Having the ARB bumper does not help the light spread pattern, but it is a major improvement over OEM. I adjusted them according to my needs to see the road. My needs were met. :)

Deflared and Raptor Lined. GM color "Gun Metal"

Wow, very nice. Your build is coming together rather quickly. I'm a bit jealous...
