Phase I of the "replace everything rubber under the hood" is underway:

Decided to replace the ventilation hose and PCV first.

A few notes: 20 years is too long to let your hoses be. The PCV gasket was on there unbelievably hard. I can't believe I was so stupid to replace the camshaft cover gasket and sparkplug gaskets without changing that out while it was out. Idiot.

I finally got it out by breaking off the top lip, then driving it off the PCV into the camshaft cover in one piece. I then removed the PCV and pulled the gasket out with a long needle nose pliers, tearing it as I went. This avoided anything going down into the camshaft area.

It idles much better now.

I've been watching this particular ticking time bomb for a while now:

It's not an original hose, based on the type of clamp, but it looks like it was installed backwards, which has encouraged the leak to form. I note to myself not to make that mistake when I replace it.

I'm also thinking that removal of all the hoses and heater actuator valve will reduce the difficulty in getting to the rear heater hose many complain about. Yet another good reason to replace all hoses if you replace one.

Did some laser printing and recreated the rear badge on the back. Some of you are familiar with the meaning of "Outlaw" on a vehicle. Specifically, it means the vehicle is modified so it can be driven the way it was intended, the way the manufacturer intended.View attachment 1161876View attachment 1161877 View attachment 1161878View attachment 1161879 View attachment 1161880
Um, can you make me one? It doesn't have to have your logo or outlaw on it. Just Land cruiser, and maybe FZJ-80?

I also ripped out my nasty, nicotine and soda soaked interior. The rear came out in one piece and the front came out in chunks. I'm thinking I want to do it in gray with a black carpet.

I also found this.

No idea what that could possibly be. Ideas?

I also dropped by A.T.U, the local car parts store, unsuccessfully looking for some windshield fluid line for the rear washer. I ended up just pulling the tube at the pump and forgot about it. While I was at A.T.U, I found this awesome and cheap military 20L gas can with donkey dick.

On the drive home from the car parts store, I discovered "Castle Wolfstein". Never knew this was here.

Thankful to be out of that godforsaken state! F%@$ Texas! Still not over my hatred of Texas @LFD2037...
You do realize this means nothing coming from someone who thinks Bernie Sanders should be our next President?

Sure, happy to do it. I can replace the "Outlaw" stuff and and put FZJ-80 where the "Outlaw" was or just stretch out the Land Cruiser to fit the as well as make it centered. Let me know. I will see how much material I have left and if there's a cost of the material I'll let you know, it's fairly inexpensive (less than $10), PM me your address for shipping. Of course there will be no charge for anything other than material or shipping. It might take me a couple weeks due to the laser being in so much demand right now--everyone is etching, burning or engraving something right now.

Dang,
I wish I could discover castles on my way home from the parts store.

modified my spare tire mount so it's on an angle instead of straight. And replaced my swingout latch with a locking one.

what wheels are you running?
