PORT ANGELES, Wash. -- A second weather disturbance expected to reenergize along a storm system draped across the Pacific Northwest has potential to bring a major snowstorm to the Olympic Mountains this weekend.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for the Olympics from Friday night through Sunday . Forecasters say the way the computer models show how the cold front is expected to align across Western Washington is a perfect scenario for a massive snowstorm atop Hurricane Ridge.
Snowfall totals between Saturday night and Sunday night could be conservatively 20-32 inches, or more, which would put it on one of the Top 5 greatest snow storms to hit Hurricane Ridge in the past 65 years or so, according to the Northwest Avalanche Center.
Forecasters say travel around Hurricane Ridge will become "hazardous or impossible."
Hurricane Ridge will be closed, but I'll likely head into the hills nearby tomorrow.
