Walked out to my truck after class and noticed coolant dripping slowly from the y-pipe/catalytic converter. I'm assuming this means I have a blown head gasket...
That would be nice. But it's also smoking/steaming quite a bit when idling and upon startup. These together make me think head gasket... But I hope I'm wrong!
Has anyone else had these two symptoms before? The truck isn't overheating. Stays happy between 190-200 F.

Yeah, I guess I just like the classic looks of the 80 as built. Original, stock 80’s are getting harder to come by so my son and I decided to keep her as OEM original as we reasonably can.
Had 35 inch toyo mt before in last two years , they were good but not good in snow and little noisy on highway as daily driver over 60 miles trip, going with these Japanese 37x13.7x17, big difference, feel driving 32 inch tires. Tire shop took so little to balance them. They said never seen this before for 37 inch tires
had only 5000 miles so far, will find out more after winter driving is over
I have got a bit of work to do. front swivel hub rebuild kit for each side, new stub axles and front brake discs/pads all arrived. Need to consider having the front callipers reco’d too. And probably better/longer brake lines. I also have a small to medium sized task of replacing all the suspension bushes with a new set I have waiting in the shed.
Attached and wired up an arb twin located in my wits end RQP @NLXTACY. Still some things to detail, switch placement and fabric wrap some wires for a clean install. Airing up my 37’s from 12 psi to 35 psi takes this set up 2.5 minutes per tire. Thats half the time it take my single arb compressor to do the same on my 200 series which has 35’s.
very happy with this. Well made product.
nice. I just swapped the 24v motors out for 12v motors in my arb twin compressor. Would you mind showing me how you ran power to yours and how it’s switched?
I attended Exploring New Hampshire's Fall Crawl last weekend. The 80 did great and I only had to bypass one obstacle (the steepest part of Devil's Pass) because it was so slick and wet. Overall, it seemed like my rig got traction even better than the v8 swapped, ORI suspension'd and 37" tired Jeep TJ in my group!

sure thing - It'll post some pics later on when i get home - thanks
i have two amps in the rear quarter panel that have a 4 gauge wire ran and then to a multiport bus block. I tapped into that power feed / ground and then used another port for the ignition wire that is on the arb wiring harness. I ran no new wires from the front to rear, which was nice. The switch will end up being mounted in the stock RQP plastics. I had no need for the up front. the sole purpose for this compressor was OBA as I have Harrop Elockers F/R.
Here's a video of it starting up after sitting all night. It usually smokes a little bit on startup, but nothing like this. Yesterday it smoked when idling, but cleared up when I started driving.

That is the humidity from the cool air and the rain (100% humidity) as the engine warms up.
If there was a "maple syrup" smell along with it, I would be concerned, but that appears to be completely normal. You're just not used to cool temps and high humidity in your area. Normal for those of us farther north!
Especially if the "smoke" goes away when you start driving it.
A HG going out, that smoke is HEAVY and WHITE and has a distinct "maple syrup" smell to it and it doesn't go away.
Dropped the 80 off at Yotamasters (Corona, CA) to trouble shoot and fix the center differential control, the neutral safety switch and replace the steering bushings with OEM. Let's see if he sees anything else.
