I'm still here.....just havnt been home very much in the last couple months to have fun with the LC(s).

You can always click the IG link in my signature to see what I'm up to, however most of it is non LC pics (monkeys, bikinis, beaches, underwater, etc...).

I never warmed up to idea of having an instagram account.
Thank you for making up my mind. :hillbilly: Cause I like to see what other people do with their LC's.

Did a long overdue front axle rebuild with the help/guidance of my brother and wired up a set of Hella 700ffs. Changed the differential fluids too. I couldn't have done it without his help. After the 80 was back together, it did the heavy lifting on our vacation to the Outer Banks. It was a nice relaxing trip and the 80 ran great (as usual!). We saw a lot of horses, but not many Cruisers.

Love OBX. My wife's family lives in VA and we do family reunion trips down there every other year. Love staying in those 10 bedroom homes with beach only access. :) Wish I could send my 80 out there next time we go.
 
I finally did it. I finally got around to installing my spring spacers on my OME stock height lift. I loved the extra clearance I gained with the stock height, and am now very happy with the extra boost I got with the spring spacers. I have more wheel well, which is not a horrible thing and I just like the way it stands. Pictures never do justice, especially driveway pictures with blown out exposure.

The fronts were a bear to put in. I could not get the passenger shock bolt off despite all my efforts. I rednecked a spring compressor using two ratchet straps to gain the extra 1.5" clearance to slip it in. I was going to trim down the bump stops but decided to try it out first. Can't wait to cruise some forest roads but there are already a couple wild fires in the area. I am probably going to get some better front shocks next winter. I am guessing I will have to cut out the passenger side.

Now just waiting on my Slee invoice to be fulfilled with my Shortbus, and rear swingout bumper.

@schradec Not to make it too easy for you, but it all depends on how much lift you are going to have and what you full extended axle drop is before springs unperch :D.

I am running OME heavies front and rear. I chose the FOX for 1-2.5" lifts.

Roger that! Appreciate it. Ive got mediums coming front and rear. I guess I could always do the springs, measure up and then make the shock order once Im dialed in. Thanks!
 
Getting very close to startup on my Cummins swap

  • Got both radiator hoses sorted
  • Finished plumbing heater return hose and wrapped with heat shield tubing.
  • Wired and loomed up the alternator and ran the loom under the radiator support.
  • Made a center support bracket for the top radiator support. (The OEM support was cut short to clear the intercooler)
  • Put the grill back together and added a little 60 series bling.
  • Got the passenger battery box in and installed two new Interstate Megatron Plus batteries. 24F as main and 27 as backup.
  • Installed all battery cables for both batteries.
  • Installed Starter motor. Note: the 97 starter fit perfectly, I have 3/4" clearance to the frame.
  • The ECU multi ground on the engine harness works well with the conveniently placed M8x1.25 threaded ports in the side of the block right above the starter.
  • Wired in the fuel shutoff solonoid relay
  • Installed the throttle cable assembly and hooked up cables to p-pump and cruise control motor.
Only thing left to do before I can see if she runs is drain the gasoline from the tank and modify the tank pickup.

Well this weekend was eventful for the 'yota. I "fixed" a rust hole that I found in the rear wheel well, replaced the front control arm frame bushings, eliminated a nasty rattle that was from my slider hitting the body, fixed a turn signal, , found a cargo divider for $12, and.... most importantly, joined the quarter million mile club! :cheers:

I mounted it on Gamviti gutter mounts and made my own load bars out of 1/8" wall 1" square aluminum stock. The Gamviti gutter mounts are very strong.

The tent is the Kukenam Sky which has a removable rain fly and zip open roof so you can enjoy the stars if you want. I had never seen an RTT before and I am very impressed with it. They are made with much heavier material than a normal ground type tent, and getting up off the ground is very nice. Ttotal camp setup time went from 45-60 minutes (doing all the work by myself while wrangling a 3 y/o) to about 15 minutes including setting up tent, table, camp stove, bedding, chairs. The tent itself takes about 5 minutes and the mattress and bedding is just kept up there so no more air mattress blow up time. Packing it up is just as easy.

My 3 y/o approved, the tent was like a tree house to him!

Two weekends ago I poked around the Eastern Side of the Cascades. Accidentally found an OHV park, but with the GF and dog in the back we didn't do anything too intense. She is getting more and more comfortable with pushing the limits of what the truck can do. And I continue to be impressed with those limits. On one side of the mountain it was 60 and sunny, as we got deeper in the mountains it was snowing on us at one point.

Since we got so lost, the maps I downloaded weren't covering where we were. Ultimately figured out where we were and how to get back. While up on the ridge and navigating the declines and rocks my truck started stumbling and dying whenever it was idling. Luckily I was able coast down this nasty road for about 4 miles to get off the mountain. Once I got to pavement it was fine with a little two foot driving and shifting to N at lights. Additionally I appreciated the sub tank on this journey. Nice piece of mind.

FYI, steering in N with a stalled truck on nasty rocks is one hell of an arm workout.
 
Spent some time this weekend addressing the idle issue. Started by replacing all the vacuum lines I could get to without unbolting the intake. Then when I went to clean the air filter, the intake hose sheared off. Luckily, I had a noticed a few months back that it was super hard and brittle and had a fresh one in the garage. Problem solved. It runs better than it did before with a much more steady idle. Should have put it on as soon as I bought it.

Drove from AZ to VA to get started on a project that I have been wanting to to do since I have owned my LC. I will post up a new thread detailing and documenting the entire build once it's under way. This will be done by a professional shop in Virginia by a guy that knows his stuff. I have all the parts ready to go. New GM EROD LS3 6.2 crate motor, all the Marks adapters, new 6L80E, Ron Davis radiator, and a DC Power 300 amp (at idle) alternator. I am looking forward to being able to pull a trailer through the mountains above 30 mph!
