Continued the slow road back to life. Replaced the battery tray with a stainless one, installed beefier battery cables, cleaned up lots of oxidation and rust on the engine components, painted the rusty air cleaner box, resealed the AFM top plate and now I am going to clean the throttle body while I have stuff apart. Next project is install new headlight harness and get new vacuum lines.... followed by a million other things :D

^drove it like u stole it obviously, what did u hit to smash the front and dent a rim?
I rammed my buddy in the 40 to smash that fender. I had just finished powering up a long hill and was pretty excited about it, also didnt want to have to winch again, and he was just at the top of the hill but his front end was sticking out. I couldn't bring myself to lift and thought, well maybe Ill miss him. BAM!

Im guessing the wheel hit a rock.

We were at Windrock TN and I took that thing through trails that it had no business being on. But I was with a 40, 60 and an 80 all locked with 35s or larger. They also had winches, so they ended up dragging me over a few of the bigger obstacles. The birth of a trail truck. Suspension, tires and bumper are on the way. And a pair of gold fenders.

Drove it over 1000 miles and it didn't skip a beat except for getting a little hot, but that's expected holding 3500-3700 rpms for extended periods of time in the middle of a Florida day. Maybe I need a 5-speed... :hmm:

Kind of a shame I'm pulling this motor next month.

But... 275K miles, original oil galley plug, 8000 miles since the last change. I think it has 50/50 synthetic/conventional. Headgasket is probably shot.

Honestly it runs great though.
How fast were you going to be running 35-3700 rpms? At 3000 rpms I'm running 78 mph!

Too fast...

Pulled Goss out of the shop to help @Mr Tibbs remove his rear step bumper, prep for rear bumper install and custom cut for the HJ flares. Laid out the frame rails for the sliders.

Awesome individual and glad to have met and done business with him. See you in a few weeks with the 70. Got to ride and drive this bad boy. Man guys..... a 12HT and 5 speed .. RHD ... So quiet and smooth... I'm gonna have wet dreams for several nights.

Now I see why you fire saled the 40 @Mr. Tibbs.
Rarely to me, does a Cruiser look good in black, but that thing is the business right there! Nice score!

Hate to do this again, but read the first sentence of post 1610. :flipoff2:

And to keep on topic, I used the cruiser to pull out a trencher after I drove said trencher into. the. trench.

MAN... this is going the wrong way... man lovers, astroglide, nuts and butts, pull out, trencher ... trench.... I"M GONE !!

Bugged out of Charleston this weekend to avoid the nonsense of the Bridge Run and my wife's 5 college friends who crashed at our place and enjoyed a little solitude in the Sumter National Forest. No maintenance or wheeling in the FJ62, just enjoyed 48 hours of life in the slow lane.

Aww hammock camping, I love it!

Removed spark plugs, bit of ashy deposits (seafoam, and zddp prolly) now going to compression test and get a new baseline on this engine. Chasing a weird murmur... So far, it seems to be the PS pump. Might sub in the backup and listen anew.
