Bear Lake Cruiser
SILVER Star
Arizona offers much for the herpetologist and Birding communities. Have you ever seen an Arizona Black Rattlesnake? We encounter them at higher altitudes, typically 4500 to 9000 feet, great looking snake for sure. Keep up the good work, many folks have no idea how many of these creatures are affected by human activities. You are very much correct about the variations in individuals. when I catch them i photograph prior to release to comapre with the next time I catch them....as quite often happens right around our house outside of the city of Tucson. My rattlers keep the pack rat population down and hence out of the nest building business under the hood of my cruisers. There was a time I wanted to live in the desert but now I'm stuck in the southeastern US. I'm not ready to give up the biological work I do with the freshwater turtles, salamanders, snakes, and a few other things. It's been a long time since I've seen a wild black tail and gorgeous describes many of the rattlesnakes if you approach them with curiosity and caution. The coloration and patterns of the scales is often unique from one individual to the next.
