There was a time I wanted to live in the desert but now I'm stuck in the southeastern US. I'm not ready to give up the biological work I do with the freshwater turtles, salamanders, snakes, and a few other things. It's been a long time since I've seen a wild black tail and gorgeous describes many of the rattlesnakes if you approach them with curiosity and caution. The coloration and patterns of the scales is often unique from one individual to the next.
Arizona offers much for the herpetologist and Birding communities. Have you ever seen an Arizona Black Rattlesnake? We encounter them at higher altitudes, typically 4500 to 9000 feet, great looking snake for sure. Keep up the good work, many folks have no idea how many of these creatures are affected by human activities. You are very much correct about the variations in individuals. when I catch them i photograph prior to release to comapre with the next time I catch them....as quite often happens right around our house outside of the city of Tucson. My rattlers keep the pack rat population down and hence out of the nest building business under the hood of my cruisers.

Pulled out my cracked and leaky radiator today. This was the easiest job I've had to do on my cruiser in recent memory. That said, two of the brackets were missing...

There should have been a bracket on here on both sides. I guess whoever had this thing apart last didn't think they were needed...

Started building my traction bar. Using nothing less that 1/4" thick metal!

That's about all the Heloderma can catch .
That's for sure and if the egg is rolling it may outrun the lizard! For the few guys that liked that picture it may be of interest that this reptile stores it's energy mainly in it's tail as it feeds and lives off that storage during the long dormant season. And Godwin is most correct, this one needs to fatten up!

We have two adult Gila monsters in the live collection at Auburn that came in as confiscations. These guys are fat and lazy and accustomed to being hand-held. The Mexican beaded lizards that were part of this same confiscation have a demeanor that's nearly opposite of that of the Gilas and are quite defensive.

@Godwin
too much tequila perhaps?:zilla:

We had a sonoran king snake in the garage a year or two ago. The house is a bit low for their preferred elevation and we are right on the border of their range so it was an unexpected joy to find this one

Wow. That sounds like the way I end up with the different women I interact with.

Better keep the snake bite kits handy....Oh wait a minute, that's what all the bottles lined up on the table on Onurs build thread are for

Unfortunately no fun adventures this week... Just a new bed on the rack and a lot of stares! So I guess this answers the question: "Can you fit a king size mattress on top of a Cruiser?"

Nothing. :(
I did no things with my Cruiser this weekend.
It's at Art's shop, getting some electrical gremlins chased down and a few other issues.

Might go to Cruise Moab though.

I ordered a 12 pack of 9w LED's on Amazon and used 2 to put underneath the driver and passenger side dash to shed some light on the floorboards. I also installed new 6.5" Polk db Series speakers into the front doors, which sound much better than 25yr old OEM units.

I used the other 10 to mount as rock lights. I've looked into the Vision X kit, but didn't want to spend the coin for something I'm not sure I'll ever use that much. I got the 12pack of LED's and hook mounts for ~$23. I went to walmart and found some cheap S hooks for $1.97 for a pack of 4. Beats the $50 wanted for some rock light mounts that are out there.

Also, I installed Crawlorado's 3M Hood Blackout this afternoon. My stock hood was fading and just didn't look good in general. I also think it will help the glare from my light bar as well. I think it turned out pretty well....don't pay attention to the dents and dings in the hood :)

I drove it for the first time, basically...
