This looks awesome, how much space is there behind the panel ? can you share some pics when its open ? I have the ambulance door so i want to have a similar idea on the doors but also double as tables.

Another thing that I got done this weekend, installed an outside air temp gauge.

Took it on a 170-mile round trip and only used 1/3 of a tank of fuel! Something must be wrong: might be able to get 300 miles out of one tank? That distance might even be the furthest I've ever taken it after 2.5 yrs of replacing old parts.

This might be about right. I think the fuel level sender operates logarithmically, so it moves through the upper half more slowly than the lower half - so maybe you actually used 10 gallons rather than 8 , despite the gauge showing you used about 8. 170 divided by 10 is 17mpg. Not unheard of for highway cruise, especially if it was flat and especially if you’re on 31s or 33s.

If you are on larger than stock tires you also have to correct the odometer. With GPS route tracking and a GPS speedo on my phone I’ve figured out that my 33 KO2s are about 16% off from stock. So if my trip odo says 170 I’d really be at 197.2 miles. Maybe you did the math already, I don’t know.

I’ve consistently gotten over 300 miles off a full tank, but only on long-haul highway trips.

Ive got that same gauge but for voltage in my cigarette lighter spot! I like this one too. Did it come with a probe or antenna like wire to read outside air temp?
It did come with a probe, initially I put the probe up under cowl by the wiper linkage but it seemed to always run 15-20 degrees hotter than the ambient temp. So I removed from there and it’s know completely away from engine compartment heat and mounted up under front bumper.

Finally figured out my intermittent fuel delivery problem. A piece of paper in the gas tank. And, I was saying "it's like something is floating around in the tank and every now and again getting stuck on the fuel suction tube." Now I have a new filter, new suction tube thingy, new fuel pump, rebuilt carb and new fuel lines. I hope I'm good to go for many years 🤞

That has to be one of the oddest gremlins I've heard about.

Looks like someone’s printed out email haha

Took a day off to sort out a bunch of stuff.
Replaced dashboard lights with LED, its much better in fact i think it needs dimming a little. I think i will try some other colors as well at some stage blue maybe ?

The electrician who sorted out my wiper washers (its now skipping due to worn bushings but working) managed to get the RPM working but needs replacing as it was for a petrol not gas. I need an oil gauge sender as well, still looking for one.

Wiper washers done, rubber ring for wiper washer tank done.
Reverse camera + reverse lights sorted and operational (the 1HDT cable loom was never connected, so no reverse lights, 4x4 lights etc. only did reverse but i will need to do the rest as well)

Cleaned radiator and filled it with green water.
Headlight aligned still feels off but better than before.

Tightened and greased front control arms as well.

These are so close to being done. I can smell it.

Went a little crazy with the file on one of them but the nano ceramic tint and new latches are on. Once they fully cure I think they’ll be all ready to put back together. The 20% VLT tint looks really nice with the satin powder coat on the window frames

First dune bashing experience with the Desert Nomad (choose the name finely) and what an experience.
The rig is great, had several issues all mostly gearbox related probably need a full gearbox rebuild (I already did 5th gear but its still slipping).

The car was too bouncy for comfort (was relative light for the amount of leaf springs) and I felt the stock shock absorbers were not able to keep up. The wheel base is also a bit narrow with the height of the car at times it felt a little unstable for my comfort.
Spacers or new rims with more offset and reduction in leaf springs should improve the issues.

Moved the vids below pics.

I found this older thread on how to add more leg room to drivers seat and decided to tackle this. It was super easy and a cheap up grade. 2 inches of extra leg room while driving , yes please👍. The picture doesn’t really do it justice but drivers seat actual goes back father then passenger by 2 inches.

Seems like dampers are the place to start for better control.

ARB and M12000 Warn have been on the front of the 60 for 16 years and the last time I needed the winch it would not work. First I replaced the Warn solenoids with an Albright contactor. Winch gave one little oomph and stopped. I decided to replace the motor. Pulled the bullbar and winch yesterday, yanked the old winch motor, and stuck in the new one. Got the contactor wired back up and winch works. I added a small bead of sealant around the seams of the winch motor because the old one had signs of minor corrosion.

Before I reinstall the bullbar I'll clean and repaint the frame rails.
