Went hunting and got some pics. I’m really happy with my OME and Bilstein combo; rides almost as smooth as my 04 4Runner did. Some buddies with 4 door jeeps were envious of the ride.
Over 500 miles round trip and the 5 speed hums along happily at 75 and 2500 rpm.

You got that right... he and I both!!!
Since I’m not willing to pay $175/wheel for powder coating… went ahead with the original plan and primed/painted these FJ cruiser 17” steelies myself. There’s a bunch of trash and runs, but they’re actually going on the 1st gen taco truck I bought recently and that truck will be living at the cabin and will be outside… 🤷🏾‍♂️

Rebuilt my carburetor. I think I found my fuel delivery problem🤞 That mesh screen on the inlet is about 80% plugged with crud, the image is the clean side. Plus there was crud in the bowl. That adds up to poor performance.

Wow that screen is pretty dirty. If you still have any trouble with seeing enough fuel in the sight glass don't forget that the needle valve can get stuck - even a new one. A few taps on the outer part of the carb where it is located with a wooden or brass drift will knock it loose.

Drove it and had a guy pull up to tell me my brake lights were out. I got home and found out the 40 year old brake light pedal switch decided to stop switching finally. Just ordered a new one.
Good time to get a brand new rubber pad - the part that the switch hits against. Available brand new from Toyota for cheap. Once that gets a big enough divot, your brake lights are always on!

Can confirm. Replaced mine about 7 years ago. Ordered two so I'll have a spare to pop in in 20 years when the current one wears out 😂

New bling from Cruiser Cult for the engine bay.

Painted the D-pillar vents and the divider on the rear door windows.

Got the sliding window frames painted with the top coat. Doing satin black for now, but I might do some chrome tape over the top. When I remove the fixed cargo window glass I lose the chrome lock strips … and I love the chrome details on a 60.

I ordered that as well, but thanks for the heads up! I wonder how long I have been cruising around without brake lights? I ordered a reverse light switch as well for when the time comes.
