Where can you get one of them engine light decals...
The guy who makes thems name is Mo Faraz I think he might be on this forum. He makes some for the wiper stalks and turn signals too. They’re dry transfer decals, really hard to install but totally worth it. Watch a few videos on how to install them and buy a few spares, they are super cheap. If you have any decals you need made, he can make them custom. He made these for me, as well as an entire wiper and cruise stalk.

Realized my last record for spark plugs was 120k miles ago. No paperwork newer than that indicating they’d been done so got those done. I didn’t think it ran that rough beforehand but it’s so much smoother now that I’m kicking myself for waiting as long as I did.

There is plenty of discussion about when you should replace/clean your air filter. There is a great study done that shows that dirty air filters actually increase the effectiveness of the filtration. No denying that data. But there comes a saturation point where your air/filter ratio gets seriously affected due to low air flow. This HJ61’s power loss was felt on hill climbs. Usually it powers right up but he was noticing sluggishness. Air filter took care of that.
His O’Reilly’s special air filter, which you can see zero light thru, was tossed for an OEM washable unit.

This is just a tip for those trying to hunt down a 2F, 3FE, H motor idler pulley. This 12HT’s idler pulley was screaming. Problem is it’s a discontinued part. There is the 3FE idler that can be used but availability can be a day or two away. This truck needed to get out of town so I pulled a 1FZ idler pulley that I needed the bearing out of for a previous project. I happen to have a stack of SKF bearings that can just be pressed into the 1FZ pulley. The 12HT pulley is staked so single use. The size difference is minimal but most important they share the same offset.

Same HJ61 with the 12H-T in the shop. This time the customer requested added a pre-filter to the fuel supply line. He asked for it to be quick and dirty. I only agreed to that because he had a time crunch and didn’t need anything fancy 
Custom 3-point mounting bracket was made. It’s a little larger to give some space for future stuff. The filter mounting was a non-issue. It was just deciding the hose orientation.
Picked up 5/16” diesel fuel hose from Parker. Routed the lines down between the two vacuum boosters. If this was going to be a Wits’ End product it would have two sections of hardline with short rubber sections.
The P-clamps are just steel ones with polyolefin heat shrink so we can shape as we need. Decision was made to wrap the hoses right above the exhaust. Don’t know if it’s an issue but didn’t want to take a chance.
New diesel fuel filter was changed out as was a new hand primer. Crazy quick to prime and bleed off the air at the bleeder. Runs like a champ.

Successfully (fingers crossed) completed a desmog of my 1982 FJ60 (aka Lefty...read more here if you're interested). After reading 42 of 59 (so far) pages here, I finally dug in. Used the Jim C kit and a TON of great advice in that desmog thread from @FJ40Jim \which made the process go as smoothly as can be expected. I'm now EGR, EGR cooler, air rail, air pump, spaghetti lines, and a ton of random air and vacuum lines-free. And, the engine feels smoother than ever with maybe even a bit of a power gain. With time, I'll see if it can get into double digit MPG numbers which would be amazing.

@1811Retired You are in my neck of the woods, where you at now? I love Sheeps Bridge, hopefully not too crowded with Phoenicians? If you are into some more difficult wheeling there is another trail in the same area that gets you down to water, but it's a rocker panel crusher if you aren't careful.
