What did you do with your 60 this weekend? (16 Viewers)

I am too chicken to put my tire up on the roof rack. 60 sways enough in the corners. Where are you gonna put your High-Lift? I'm thinking to put it in the tailgate or on the back of the roof rack.

It is currently mounted in the roof rack with homemade mounts using 3/4 emt clamps, bolts and plastic spin on knobs. It actually works pretty good and is out of the way. I thought about fabbing a mount to attach to the tire carrier but I may leave it in the rack.

gear oil from a leaking axle or just brake fluid from a leaky wheel cylinder mixed with brake material? Mine looked like that and I replaced both the seal and the cylinder. If you replace the oil seal, you'll need to take off the rear diff cover and pull the axle clips out. Might as well knock out that broken stud and press in another while it's off. I also pulled and replaced the axle bearing behind the seal...figured might as well while I was in there.
Not sure yet. I sprayed everything down and scrubbed all the gunk off before I walked away Monday night. I’ll get back in there and get a better look tomorrow but my thoughts exactly. New seals and bearings will definitely be in order.

Thanks! I was so happy to get the tire off of the roof rack. Hope to get the lights wired in tomorrow and move the license plate. Was running out of daylight.
Having all that weight up top makes me a nervous wreck at times. Especially on windy mountain roads. I want to pull my Jerry cans off the roof and put them on the bumper. Does that thing carry 2 or 3 cans?

You’ll rest well.

It carrys 2 cans. It is the Dobinsons bumper offered by Exit Offroad. They only offer the dual can as far as I know. So far pretty happy with the bumper and I can't compliment the customer service at Exit enough. Mike was awesome!

So, while letting the carb soak AGAIN in Carb dip, I got the HELLA fog lamps working...I found out they were disconnected. Yes, Osiris is really dirty and has been sitting for a while. The worst thing you can do IMHO...WILL NOT happen again. She will be running again and refresh looking good so it won't look like he is the other dude playing the dude, pretending to be the other dude!

I haven't found a real need to carry extra fuel, but it's real nice to be able to have a big water jug or cooler back there when camping. Also, my TT jerry can rack fits a propane tank nicely. A trash bag hanging underneath or off of the spare tire has worked well. I'm interested in installing a pivoting work light on a telescoping pole on the tire swing out and maybe some recessed LED lights in the lower part of the lift gate to illuminate the tailgate/work bench. Just some thoughts I wanted to share.

I have those and as much as I like them......
if I was to do it all over again...
I would get an LED battery operated (500+ lumens) lamp.. with an option for a red light for better night vision....
This way you can run it for as long as you want on the lift gate and or RTT or Tent...
I find that to be more versatile.....
You avoid the wiring-in and drilling for LED's on the lift gate as well.....

Looong overdue replacement of the front disc brakes: had one piston sticking in the left side and on the coldest nights, it would leak brake fluid- the brake light would be constant until I added more fluid. I swapped over the calipers and pads from a parts 4runner and then bled all four brakes, three of the bleeder plugs were clogged with dirt-dauber mud *~€&+#!! much better now. When it gets warmer I will dive into replacing the rear brake shoes and fixing the e-brake system.

Do a search for Brawlee lights... nice LED light bar that you can tuck right up at the bottom of the glass. It’s hidden, but also doesn’t shine in your face...adjustable brightness and options to hardwire/12v plug and comes with a remote if you want to use it. Different models can change color if you want something besides white light.

That is pretty sweet! I am usually using my tailgate as a makeshift work bench when I'm working on the old girl. I am always running out of daylight. Will definitely be looking into that!

Finally got around to replacing the slave cylinder. Went ahead and did the soft line along with it 1) because it got so twisted up because the clip at the top did not want to come out and 2) it’s been there since 1985.

if anyone needs the pn on a new one this is it

China is having problems with Tawain. Current Toyota’s built in China are reliant on circuit boards and components made in Tawain. Maybe other factories have the same problem along side massive supply chain disruptions. It’s not all covid. There are geopolitical problems in that region of the world that are causing disruptions as well.

I do need some keys though.... I only have one and it only works if I insert it one way. I’ll be contacting you soon!
