After sitting for 2 months, took the cover off, pulled the choke, pumped the gas 3 times and it fired right up😀. Then, drove around town running errands. During that process 2 people complimented the "jeep" which I promptly corrected as I pointed to the large Toyota logo on the grill. Another 2 recognized the engineering marvel properly as a Landcruiser. AC worked like a charm in the warm weather with the wife asking to turn the AC down. 🤯 A good day in the rig indeed.

That snow already is nuts! It’s still in the mid 90’s here in Phoenix.

Same here in Texas. Had enough of the summer heat. Bring on the cool.

Edit: I had to replace the brake stop on the cruiser this weekend. Old one was so worn out that a cup had worn into the center of it.

The brake lights would intermittently stay on. Luckily a trip to my local Toyota dealer and $4.35 later I had a new one. Turned out to be harder to replace than I thought it would be. Couldn't get the stop to lock down into the hole in the pedal arm. One of those things where with where everything was positioned I couldn't get enough leverage to push it through. Tried just using the switch itself but it wouldn't do it for some reason. So I removed the switch, jammed a screw driver through and finally got it to poke through. Replaced and adjusted the switch and now brake lights work as intended. Job done. So that's what I did with mine this weekend. Easy stuff I know but needed to be done.

Mirrors look great! Are they direct bolt on, or are modifications needed? Where did you source them?

90154-60007 (x4) new screws

They are direct replacement, no modification needed. There are some other threads on them but the only downside is the base is not a 100% match to the 60 door and leaves a very small gap (you can see in my picture). Not noticeable at all in my opinion. I sourced mine from Japan but looks like they are available from some US suppliers.

Do they bend back?

Got the trans out for the clutch replacement. Using the word “toast” would be an understatement. TO bearing is smoked, clutch is clearly smoked, and the most surprising is the pilot bearing is literally seized. I couldn’t spin it by hand at all. It also has a dent in it which was not caused by the puller.

one day next week I’ll go have the flywheel machined and get the rear main seal in. The truck only has 126k and AFAIK, it’s all original. Hoping the new stuff quiets the trans down, otherwise it’s coming back out and I’ll go thru it.

If it's not too late also replace the tranny input shaft seat and gasket, I did mine when I replaced the clutch 2 years ago and my clutch looks exactly the same.

Yup, I have some weird trans noise going on so I’ll be doing the input shaft bearing while the trans is out too. I’ll be ordering with Georg on Monday.

Made lemonade out of lemons. A couple weekends ago I backed into a tree. Ordered two new brake light covers and two side marker lights from cruiser corps and when I reached in and pushed on the big dent it just popped back out and disappeared...I was shocked. There are still two very small dents that can probably be addressed by a dentless removal guy so I am once again a happy camper.

I had that happen over the summer. I went with a fat zip tie around the pedal bracket. Works great.

I have relatives visiting from Europe and took them to the Balloon Fiesta. They are touring the southwest in a rented SUV but what do they want to ride in all weekend? The 60 because it’s “cool”
I remember my first visit to the balloon fiesta back in 1976, less than 100 balloons IIRC, and very laid back in those days. I tagged along on a Hydrology field trip when I was studying Civil Engineering at NMSU. We stopped in Placitas for the night before visiting Nambe Dam, Heron Dam, and the intake to the Azotea Tunnel (12.8 miles long) along the Navajo River in southern Colorado. We went to the balloon fiesta early in the morning for the mass ascension before heading north. That was the funnest part of the trip. That was long before I bought my first Land Cruiser in 1984.

Pressed my new throw out bearing on and got my flywheel machined. Also ordered a Mishimoto radiator today. Should have it all done by Friday, time permitting. I want to get some miles on it before we take it up to Mexican Hat Utah for some R&R the beginning of November.

On my way out yesterday I ran into another 60 on the dirt road coming from my parents house. We stopped and said hello. They asked if I was on Mud and when I said yes they said are you Seth? 😂. Sean or Shawn and his wife from Maine were over for the Vermont overland weekend which is about 2 miles down the road from my parents.

Then later I went and looked at a 60 parts rig that had a claimed 5 speed but turned out to be a 4. Bought the factory tool kit off the guy so now mine is complete in that respect.
Reverse counts as 5th gear, no? Lol!!

New meats on beadlocks, 103lbs per tires of 37×14.50R15 Toyo MTs. Pro tip, pull vaccum off the motor to unseat the bead in the inside then pop the lock ring bolts.

Rear tires are replaced, broke my wheel lock key trying to finish the fronts so now I am stovepiped on this project.
