Finally installed a working factory Fj62 radio/tape deck, PO replaced with Scion CD player. I know some quickly replace for a new touch screen unit, but I dig the tapes and original look.

It took 6 months, two "working" units, two board swaps, and a used Camry tape deck. Needless to say these tape decks are not made to last 30+ years. Finding the factory FJ62 units was pretty difficult, but at least they are not as pricey as the 60 units.

Rock on

First snowfall of the season in Oregon Cascades. My dog Reload turned one so decided to take the kids and dog up to the mountain to enjoy the snow in Snowball❄️

It was so great to get the 60 back out in the woods again.

The woods were all to ourselves

The clouds broke up and Mt. Hood finally became visible.

The 4BT and SOA conversion is awesome

Took the old gal up skiing and fooled around in the snow for the first time — rock solid in the wet snow that we received! Something tells me the dog (Jasper) was even more elated than his owner to ski!

No snow yet this far south, so it was great weather for a hike to find an obsidian vent that was a source for some of the better quality stone tools in this area. We ended up a little short of the intended destination, but had fine views from an adjacent summit of Sandia Peak to the south and Mount Taylor to the southwest. And of course one of the more massive peaks in the area, Redondo Peak. We saw a few hunters but we were wearing a lot of orange.

Redondo Peak.

A meadow with aspens on the way down from the summit - they haven't started to turn yet.

Don't know what happened to this photo, maybe it's just the late afternoon sunlight reflecting off today's Land Cruiser of choice.

That snow already is nuts! It’s still in the mid 90’s here in Phoenix.
Yuck... Only if I’m floating on a river does that sound nice, but I’d rather enjoy some cold and dry powder snow. Had our second freezing temp of the year here. Hope a lot of snow comes this winter.

Replace the rear main seal and pan gasket, Mounted the awning and roof top tent, headed down to get new AC hoses made this morning. Took the grill off to make it easy for them to get the hoses installed

Yessir -- fingers crossed for that! 28* on my bike ride into work today. Full on winter temps!

What’d ya shoot it at, a hog feeder🤣

had a group actually tear down that deer feeder and destroy it. Had to anchor it into the ground. Have hog pipes set up in 3 areas to keep them busy until we can get rid of them so they dont destroy more. Need to kill another 25 or so to get them under control on this 450 acres....of course, last vid showed a brand new litter so its a matter of keeping up.

So jealous! I have an old Sony Walkman, and I've been adding to my tape collection. I'd love to be able to listen to them in the Cruiser.

I bought a couple of new (recently discontinued) double DIN Pioneer head units with AM/FM, CD, and cassette for my '86 FJ60 (with FJ62 dash and wiring) out of Malaysia a couple of years ago. Only $125 each and shipping was only six days for the second one I bought. Fits like a glove and sounds great. Works so well my friend bought one for his Saab.

Got the trans out for the clutch replacement. Using the word “toast” would be an understatement. TO bearing is smoked, clutch is clearly smoked, and the most surprising is the pilot bearing is literally seized. I couldn’t spin it by hand at all. It also has a dent in it which was not caused by the puller.

one day next week I’ll go have the flywheel machined and get the rear main seal in. The truck only has 126k and AFAIK, it’s all original. Hoping the new stuff quiets the trans down, otherwise it’s coming back out and I’ll go thru it.

Pulled the rear axle and springs. These OME heavy springs have about 250k on them and were sagging a little.

Swapped in a FF e-lockered 80 series axle and new as-heavy-as-possible rear OME springs.
