What did you do with your 60 this weekend? (32 Viewers)

Luckily that was the only damage that was done. Also, being in insurance has one benefit as the adjuster already came out and gave me a price to total it and I was surprised at the valuation--all of the guys overpaying for 60s might have just made me some money. As it looks now I might end up totaling the car and looking to buy a new one in the near future.

Curious the number they quoted for payout? If not comfortable sharing the exact number a range would suffice.

TIA

Re-dipped the truck. Got about 2 years out of the rattle can job I did last time - also bought a cover to hopefully get a few more years out of this job. Used a real gun instead of the cans...although I had to do it in stages, so the color wasn't a perfect match everywhere, but it looks better then before which adds 15 hp and 3 mpg, as we all know. Also bled my new clutch master cyl properly, so it works much more better now. And then, for no particular reason, I took her for a drive. View attachment 1790182

When you say
Re-dipped
do you mean plasti-dip?

How does she pull that trailer? We had a pop-up years ago and our 60 did OK, nothing stellar, but it worked for the most part.
She did ok. The trailer weighs about 3600lbs loaded and I was able to go 60mph on the interstate at 3000rpm. Uphill was around 45mph and downhill up to 65mph. Other than that, she didn’t overheat and wasn’t as squirly as I had read on other posts. Drove pretty straight and steady.

Messed around with some other rims & tyres I’ve got on a trailer I’m building. They’re 8.25 R16 - really old school size. Look to be slightly larger than my 285/75 R16 s that I usually run. I kinda like the steelie look at the moment, and there is plenty of rubber between the rim & the road in this size.

Yep. it's not all that durable like a bedliner (did that once to a '78 FJ40 back int eh day and loved it), but the old girl was looking rather freakish with multiple patches of primer, missing parts, etc. So it's an easy, relatively cheap, and removable top coat....until I can get a real paint job (or new truck without the cancer issues).

Nice - sounds about the same from when we pulled the pop-up years ago.

After a gruelling day of feeding meds to old people I cracked a s*** eating grin upon seeing my 60 w/ it’s colorful steering rods and mismatched front valance and body and missing front bumper waiting in the lot. She’s so me.

Changed out a few coolant hoses, replaced the fan clutch and split the fan shroud. View attachment 1791072

Wise man with the cardboard protection over the radiator. I mashed a huge hole in the middle of a radiator once tugging on the water pump and it suddenly let go. FAWK!!! Not sure cardboard would've been enough to stop my f'up.

Did some wheelin with our 4x4 club near Bridgeport, CA. The mine ruins are from the Chemung mine. Also an old mining town called Masonic. There were a couple of 60s, mine and McVicker's , who is also a mud member. Awesome run with just a hint of fall colors starting to show.

Hey J, not sure if you’ve seen Jeff’s threat (@fl4031003 ) but he’s doing the same thing in a 62. Pretty cool stuff yall are working on :)

Build thread? Curious to see his method. I'll need to trim/sculpt the back side a bit to make it fit nicely and then adjust centering for the steering. Current plans are to use the 80 steering wheel as well. I'll need to look at the firewall in more depth for all new fittings and holes and possible re-routing for the 80 series AC, heater, gauges, vent tube, etc..
