Would love to know about that. I love Cold War history.

The Air Force tested launch system hardware for the MX missile in Nevada. The tower supported a launch canister that was tilted 5* (kind of like the clocking on the 3F bellhousing - so much for the obligatory tech content). The full-scale mock-up was launched from the canister using the same cold launch (compressed gas) system as in the real silos, but there was no second stage. Instead, due to the tilt of the canister, the missile would clear the tower and land in a pit that was excavated next to the tower. The missile was cut up for scrap after the shot. A confirmation test was performed in Nevada prior to each MX missile launch from Vandenberg AFB on the California coast to verify the funtionality and performance of various launch system hardware that had undergone design changes. For example, to test an upgrade to the release mechanism that shed the pads used to center the missile in the launch canister. Pretty fun stuff to be a part of.

Chased my wet drivers footwell using some food coloring and some NW rain. Pulled the fender and sealed everything up with urethane sealant. Next weekend I'll get around to painting the sealant, putting the fender back on and getting the carpet and drivers seat re-installed.

Pro-tip: don't use power tools (i.e. 20v impact gun) to remove the outer most bolts inside the wheel well... Broke 2 of the fender clips and had to cut the bolt heads off to remove.... :bang:

It’s not rain, just PNW sunshine. Great idea to chase the leak.

oh wow! is that WEATHER? I miss that stuff...

Yeah, tell me about it. Here at my place in the mountains of northern New Mexico the ONLY precipitation we've had all winter is two 1/4" snowfalls, that's it. We normally average 50" of snow during the winter, and have seen as much as 150", including one 48" dump over a two-day period back in mid-January '87. Skied at the local area from the first week in November until the first week of May that year :). I put the '84 FJ60 to a lot of use that season - 48 trips up to the mountain.

Tell me about it i moved here in 86. Opening day was always Thanksgiving weekend.
I afraid a lot of the forest will be closed in the summer too if it stays this dry.
At least our Cruisers aren’t rusting......

Put in new Dorman window regulators on driver's side and passenger side. Much nicer. Should have done long ago.
Oh, and I wore flip flops to the Autozone in CO in January. No snow on the horizon for another 10 days at least in SW CO.

I feel like I live in Sante Fe, sans the adobe.

@POTATO LAUNCHER, looks like the view we had from California Pass and Hurricane Pass :).

It was pea soup thick that day. The elderly couple in the rental Heep were happy to see a group of Cruisers out on the trail. Extremely scarry when you are above treeline, lost and you have no direction in the clouds.

I have been chasing my own "damm A pillar leaks" for about two plus years with no secess. So my question is you you how did determine where the leak was from. Was it the "A" pillar, the side firewall or the engine side firewall? Where was the biggest leak or was there only one leak ????? Did you use a bore scope to fine the leak ????

Thanks Jason

I think different color food coloring was used to "show" via the tint of the water inside which seam was the culprit.

Pulled it out and cleaned all the weather off of it so I could drive it to work this week. Decided to finally start working at getting the overspray off the windows and get my ammo can center console secure.
