@Malleus - That's exactly what I thought. Just needed confirmation. If need be, I could cut out the plates from my old panels. They're shot anyway.
Thanks for the help everyone. Now... to save a little money and go on the search. "lucky"...
The ambulance door hinges are secured with a nut plate, on the inside of the rear panels. If you can't find one, you can make them. I'll see if I can get a photo.
Scratch that; that upper hinges are held on with the same nut plates as the...
I have the different header, so that works. I guess my question is what "provisions" will I need to make for the hinges?
Of course, the easiest and best thing to do would be to just have panels that are '75 and up, but I'm just trying to...
Great read, @bikersmurf - However, most of the discussion was around back ends with hatches. I'm curious about using ambulance doors with side panels that had a lift hatch on the back. How is it mounting the ambulance doors on side panels...
I'm hoping that's not the case, of course. The floorboards and are in great shape and no rust at all on the frame and running gear and such.
A little rust on the rear seal, of course, but not terrible. I'm hoping it's just the top that's...
I was getting ready to take my rusted out top off my 75 BJ40 (de Costa Rica) and thought that before I take off I should get all the parts I need to put it back together before I take it off. With the condition it's in, it's not going back on...
Man, I was JUST down in Texas last weekend. Could have picked this one up. Mine is for barn doors, though, not rear hatch. I'd have to deal with that, but that's a helluva deal. Thanks
Thanks @777Gage Cool, Yeah. @oakweb helped with his postings when I was looking for a 40. Reason I'm looking now is because the 40 I bought has panels that look like this. (leak in the roof ruined the top for the most part. Fortunately, tub...
The vacuum line is vented to the atmosphere. It's purpose is to go to an area that's unlikely to get water and dirt in it. There's a diaphragm inside the HAC that is responsive to changes in atmospheric pressure and changes the length of the...
@mudgudgeon - good idea. Attached are two pics, and after looking at the components I have, and the pictures again, it's starting to make a little more sense.
The second diagram above, from FU35 appears to show the black, plunger looking part...
Thanks for the reply @mudgudgeon . It's hard for me to tell exactly how it's hooked up on the 40 as the pictures are limited in the Toyota Engine Repair Manual.
Here's what I can see in the manual on page FU-30.
and on page FU-35
The later...
and a year later.... the BJ40 is back on the road/dirt! Replaced all the soft lines, had the tank cleaned, and while I was at it I stripped the passenger side footwell down to metal, and repainted with a Toyota color "Yellow" from 1975...
I shut my driver's side door on my 40 the other day and shattered the glass. Not sure what happened as I didn't shut it very hard, but it's gone.
Since it's basically a square piece of glass, I'm wondering if I should get it cut locally. But...
