Went out one last iMessage with son to our hunting grounds before my son leaves for collage. Also check out how the Goodwin fire rampaged through the hunt grounds. 1/2 of the area survived.

Orange scurry from the air tankers. A lot of standing dead trees. Kinda sad to see it go !!!!

And it very rarely works in mud like that... good for Curt for having good length straps and chains though.

This was the first time that I've done it in mud.but it was really more like sandy water on top of muck, though. It took two jack lengths to get out and I was kind of worried about something going "twang." One thing I did learn was to be SUPER gentle on the throttle in this type of stuff..

Thanks! It was a ton of fun! After that, I realized I will be getting new wheels/tires for trail runs, the stock wheels with 10.5's were rubbing the inner wells making it a little tougher to move on some obstacles. Spacers would be fine, but the price for a full set of spacers ends up being the same price as a set of steelies.

Besides that, Saginaw might be the next mod, steering at low rpm mixed with low tire pressure became very difficult. Revving up and riding the clutch got a little tough on some parts.

Going to link up with the Solid Axle Summit gang tomorrow. So I checked to see if the 60 still had any oil, coolant and grease left in it. Also checked to be sure nothing important like a wheel was going to fall off.

Since I have not done the install of an accessory fuse block and rewiring of all the accessories, I did a temp install of a CB and antenna.

Good to know. I recently put some 33x10.5's on the stock wheels. What does the Saginaw kit cost? Is it a relatively easy conversion?

Do you think that some MAXX Traxx type tracks might have helped in this situation? Has anyone used them to get out of a pickle like this?

MAXX Traxx would have helped, they are a very useful tool well worth the cost.

I've never used track boards so I'm probably not qualified.

In this situation, I had dirty water on top of muck. The front was resting on the dif and the wheels were in mucky ruts made by someone with MUCH bigger tires than my 33's. I'm not sure that the tires would've reached the tracks on the bottom. I stepped in one of the ruts and was up to my hip.

Got sick of getting smacked in the head by the rear lift gate. Got the struts off of amazon. 10 min install and it is wonderful! Gate springs right up. Here is the package/ part # in case anyone is looking to replace theirs.

Also had a cracked tail light so I replaced both rears with new OEM lenses. I forgot how pretty brand new lenses are!

No, these struts came with replacement ball ends that fit perfectly. Just had to use a 12mm wrench to remove the stock ball ends. I think some folks chop the old ball ends off just to be able to get a socket on them for easier removal.

Man I wish that was my extent of my 60 chores today...
Oil filter bracket cleaned and reattached w/ new gasket and a smidge of fipg on the block side, oil cooler cleaned and painted last night, then today did gaskets and o-rings and reinstalled.
Cleaned the mating surface of the lower tstat housing and reattached. Added BVSV 1&2.
High temp thread sealer to rear heater pipes and reinstalled.

Well I did go back to it as the cup on the new Clutch Master Cylinder is cracked right at the base of it...causing a slow leak....
so..... removed that one and installed my 2nd one (also brand new) and no more leaks

and yeah well I have all the material ready to rebuild front axle just need to do it...once the rain decides to stop...
and work isn't as cray cray....

I still haven't installed my new rear bumper from TT....

oh well

I don't have much mechanical aptitude, but with the help of a buddy who does, we fixed the leak in my rear differential yesterday. No runs, no drips, no errors. I'm trying to learn anyway.
