About 5K on the whole rebuild......including the head gasket:crybaby:

Unfortunately, you are exactly right. The entire metal rim on the gasket was burned through.
 
Painted the door handels,the wiper arms and some other things in black.
Put the car back together and hope to make it a bit dirty tomorrow (hunting season starts tomorrow):pig:

Dug up some old pictures of my old 60 to help motivate me finish my current 62 resto



 
Finished pulling the a440 and split case out of my 62 tonight. Still collecting parts for the h42 swap, but should have most everything in the next couple weeks.

I may start my own thread in here to ask some questions on things that hold me up. First time doing a manual swap.

Once finished it will be a totally different driving experience. I predict that within the first 6 months of having driven with the H42 you'll be wanting a H55F ;).

Nooo, don't say that yet! I'm hoping it will be at least 7 months :D

Installed a bunch of stuff my 60, Scooby II
Inverter, cables for folding solar panels going the secondary battery, when fully charged then charge the main battery.
110V charger for the dual batteries when parked for long duration to keep batteries tip top.
USB outlet for front dash, in the newly installed Tuffy box and also 110V and USB outlets at the back on both sides of the rear cargo area.
Back up camera and front camera displayed on rear view mirror. New rear view mirror.
Dash camera with 2 week record time.
Old fashioned Nakamichi tape deck, shallow Focal speakers and amp.
Added an 3.5 mm outlet for digital music, yes I have one and Apple deletes on new iPhone......
Sound deadening on doors, dash and floor. Subwoofer installed to support the main speakers.
Alarm install with GPS tracking and electric door locks.
Done for now.........
 
Replaced my locked down windshield washer pump with a Vatozone special for $15.99. Direct swap just have to connect the wires to the stock socket.
