Picked up a new to me hitch. (Thanks @88FJ62PARTS) Wire wheeled it and coated with chassis saver. I'll pick up some mounting hardware for it tomorrow.

Also had a surprise waiting for me when I got home. (Thanks @Racer65) Faster shipping than expected.

Enjoying the Terrain Tamer Lift...

Fun conditions this week! Got several inches of snow. Driving the Land Cruiser in snow is absolutely one of my favorite things to do. The truck is so solid, so capable :smokin:.

The suspension upgrade has really made daily driving so much more enjoyable.

Wired in the carb cooling fan with a toggle switch so it can be turned off during the winter, built a mount for it and bolted it to the inner fender. Piped in a new PVC connection off the intake manifold. Dropped the gas tank and started cutting out the rusted channels. Those new channels look good Jason @reevesci Trail Tailor thanks. Talked to Georg @orangefj45 he's sending me an output shaft and high gear, thanks Georg.

Inching my way along with the interior refresh. I don't have many photos but below is a list of the products used if you are interested. When complete I will add new photos.

Fab'd together seat mounts for BMW front seats. Unfortunately there isn't an aftermarket kit for 85 and earlier models. Lots of issues to sort out!

New speaker wiring and added some 6 1/2's in the rear panels. Rockford Fostgate Prime's. Amazon.com : Rockford Fosgate R1525X2 Prime 5.25-Inch Full Range Coaxial Speaker - Set of 2 : Vehicle Speakers : Car Electronics

Blue tooth head unit. This is the third unit I have installed and they work just fine for my purposes. For less than $25 it's does everything I need it to. Amazon.com: SoundStorm ML41B Bluetooth Enabled, Single Din, MP3 Compatible, Digital Media, FM Receiver: Car Electronics

Laid down sound deadener on the floor, doors and behind the rear panels. The effect is very noticeable when you close the doors and should help with the squeaks and road noise. Noico Base / Products / Noico sound deadening materials

Not sure if it is necessary but when I install sound deadener I also spray each seam and hard to reach place with Boom Mat Spray. Boom Mat Spray-On 050220 | Purchase DEI, CryO2, Ny-Trex, Boom Mat & SPA Turbo Products | Design Engineering, Inc. - Thermal Performance Products

That's it for this week. Still have a ways to go but getting excited for summer time cruising.

I'm waiting to make everything pretty before I post pictures.

It took some welding, a few beers and a plasma torch to massage them into place. After all of that I'm still not sure I'm 100% happy with how they turned out. Lots of trial and error.

The main issue I ran into was how much higher you sit in the seat. I'm 6' 3" and felt crammed so I had to make some adjustments to the rear mounts. The next unexpected snag was the rear heater hitting my seat mounts. Removing the heater felt like a shortcut so I worked around it and came up with a solution.

Should be interesting to put a few miles on them and see if any other issues pop up.

After I get everything mounted up I will post info in the BMW seat thread to add to the conversation.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Bill D.

Tx
what sq footage of the Noico did you use?

Would be interested in what sq footage you used also. Did you do behind the rear seat also?

I ordered the 50 sq ft set from Amazon. I did not do behind the back seats on the floor in the cargo area because I'm not replacing the carpet back there.

Awesome, thanks for the reply

I'm to that point in the project where you rush things to try and finish quickly. Never a good idea because mistakes always happen!

This is the second carpet kit from Cool Cruisers that I have installed. Using a 30 oz underlayment has been a little tough to work with because the carpet doesn't want to lay down. This is normal and will work it's way out as it ages. A little bit of carpet adhesive in the trouble spots smooths everything out for now. My two tips for carpet work are take your time and use a multiple fresh blades during install. For this job it took 5 blades.

Yes, I left everything except for the jack holder uncut under the drivers seat. I keep all my tools neatly stowed in a Toyota tool bag.

For the price the fit and quality of the carpet is fine for me.

Goodbye cat pee and mold smell.
