Dodge NV4500 to Gen 1 Chevy SB. A 1F three speed bellhousing has the same transmission bolt pattern as an SM465 or SM420 or other old GM transmissions so I'm using that to bolt to my 3FE.

@cruisermatt I'm sure you already know this but just a reminder since it would be a good time to secure the 5th gear and replaced the input shaft seal if your rear adapter is aluminum i would use anaerobic sealer or a good RTV. Just my 2pennies.

Using Loctite 518 as recommended by AA and many vendors and rebuilders.

Was reassured by a major rebuilder and distributor for New Ventire that I wouldn't have to worry about the 5th gear with the power I'm putting out. It's only an issue with the Cummins diesels.

I'm swapping to an entirely different main case so input seal will definitely be replaced along with all the others... Installing a NOS tailhousing, NOS input shaft and retainer.

Replaced the alternator and starter in an afternoon. The top nut for the starter is a Mothertrucker to get too. But it's done and I'm sore as heck from crawling around on the cold concrete. Good times, though.

Started putting her back together to make her run again... Lots and Lots of rebuilding...

I finally got to take my 89 fj62 for a spin this weekend. After battling fuel and other random issues I have sorted that s*** out! Feels good to be able to drive it for the first time since I got it back in October. Now I can focus on my suspension build. Thanks for all the information "mud".

Gotha! Had not thought about that.

Fit my new center console, it's not done yet, but nice to see it in the truck.

Did the head light wiring upgrade ... Relays, new Cibie fixtures , 12 ga wire . Wow the lights are bright now!

Sometimes it just takes a bit of creativity and a willingness to break the mold. H55f is overrated these days.

Shipped off a steering gear box to West Texas Off-road today.

Damn thing was heavy - it was $60 bucks to ship.

Hope it comes back soon...

Ed how much is it to have them rebuild the box? Was thinking of throwing mine to them one of these summers (when I don't really need the truck and can ride to work).

@Cruising Canuck How did you get those Jeep Overland seats? Those suckers cost a lot. I remember replacing a seat back a few years ago for some stitching issue and cost was $350 at dealer cost.

They were a lucky find in the local classifieds, $500 bucks for both fronts, the rear bench and the center console. Installation wasn't easy, but totally worth it. Great seats

I believe the quote was $160.00 to rebuild it. This does not include shipping.

Since doing the Vortec swap my truck's steering seems to be suffering from the additional pressure produced by the new GM PS pump. Very wayward on the highway, easily led astray by ruts, etc. Didn't seem an issue before but I believe the gear box is shot.

Got a few other things planned for it that should greatly improve handling. Will post up as it comes together.

I replaced mine also with a friends help. I just had shoulder surgery so I was the gopher. This is one of the many parts (and redo repairs) I have had to replace again since the truck was redone by a known shop in the area. This alternator was only about 3 years old. I don't think it was the right alternator because they had put an adaptor plug between the alternator and the factory plug. The replacement uses the factory plug. After paying all that money to that shop I'm tired of doing and paying for things twice on this truck. :bang:

Laid down some fresh tracks

If you can't get to the mountains after a snow storm to do some powder skiing/snow boarding laying down tracks in your Land Cruiser is the next best thing.
