I’m calling this a mini review because I have included some images from the books I am referencing. Just last year I invested the $70 to get the two FunTreks Colorado books and I was checking off the trails and having a good ol time. Then last week I pop into the local outdoor store and there are two brand new editions-2019. I waited because I was a little annoyed that I had just bought the now old versions. I thought about it though and I am really doing the trails and we had major floods since the last books and I actually ran into at least one trail that was no longer as long as it should have been. So I went back to buy them and they were sold out of the regular one so I just bought the northern Colorado one. All my annoyances were assuaged when upon finding the first full page color photo was of—-a gx! Then later on there’s a pic of a 460 on one of the trails. Then again (it’s the same pic from inside) the gx is actually on the back cover. So there is some gx representation that is cool. Aside from that which is cool for us, there are new trails and updates to the old ones with references to keep the old one because they changed em up etc. I haven’t scoured the other one yet, I found it at a local Offroad store but no gx’s right off the bat. Also new sections and updates so overall I’d say worth a buy even if you just got the 3rd edition.....it’s funny too because the author got a Tacoma and overall there is way more Toyota’s in general

I've got the California one and I agree, it's awesome. Also that's a good point about trails changing, which I've found to be true. However the mile marker directions and descriptions are wonderful
Wells hasn't updated much in UT in some time (AFAIK. I'll have to check what I have, I may be confusing Wells for Massey books
) . We'd thought he retired from the trails retirement. 
Must be sticking closer to home, or maybe (hopefully) starting the revised editions from home and will increase the radius for further editions.

My 3rd edition is 2016 and is Wells solo, I see your updated guides are Wells and Peterson. Hopefully they're getting back out to update with the 4th edition and as you say trails change and especially will have after this past winter/spring.

This was yesterday but I was too tired to post. Was planning on doing three trails from the funtreks northern Colorado book. Ballard Road, moody Hill, and old flowers road. The first two are rated difficult. Ballard road was first and the book said it got narrow and steep but dang:
That and major major pinstriping to the point of I think denting the body. Whatever it was stil cool and I already contacted ACC Garage about the gas carrier they had in the works. So I decided that was enough damage for the day and skipped the second difficult one and headed to old flowers road. We were plugging along and both getting tired and the wife says she thinks we missed a turn (she grew up camping on this road) so we stopped at the next fork in the road to reasses and I look up the side trail and see a vehicle and I said hey we can ask them. Then as it gets close I can tell it’s a gx. Amazing coincidence, ran into Matt (Webguy on this forum) and Clay, who were in town from Texas basically taking Matt’s gx on it’s maiden run. So we talked and ended up just following them out. Overall it was worth the window and it was just a window is what I keep telling myself. The trail was hairy.

Does Yodatech make a gullwing hatch for the GX/Prado 120 yet?
The only rear window goodies I know of in the works are from ACC or the gullwings from down under.

Did my timing belt and waterpump using the Aisin kit from Amazon. All OEM parts, but unfortunately the new tensioner bearing (Koyo) was clicking so it didn't get installed. Used the starter bump method to take the crank bearing off.
Used a 2x6 with holes drilled in it for the socket and some grade 8 bolts to torque it back on. I don't necessarily recommend this option, the pulley holder would have been a lot better. The grade 8 bolts bent!
The car was new to me at 102k with no TB record so I replaced it to be safe. Looked like it had been done already (not with OE parts though) the water pump did have a leak so it wasn't a total waste of 12-14 hours.
Probably could have shaved off some time by not removing the radiator. There was a REALLY GOOD video on YouTube of a guy doing a 2009 gx timing belt. It was the kind of video where he shows the parts/bolts and explains what to do, but doesn't video each step so the video is very efficient to watch. Also gives you the important torque specs.
I also went on carfax and entered in the DIY work. Maybe someone someday will appreciate that!

- Replaced the air filter
- Cleaned the MAF sensor
- Replaced my right front turn signal bulb

completed install of winch cut-off switch. I used a BMW battery lead (2/0 AWG) from the junkyard and used amazon terminals. I just like the idea of cutting power to the winch in daily use and only providing power to it when I might need it.
Got a small package in the mail today. Will be installing this weekend
I found another Australian one called emu wing. I guess I will reach out and see about these, ACC hasn’t replied yet. The emu wing one said it’s a little tricky to install I wonder about this one and ordering in general. I’ll report back@Vlad

Might as well do the Prado window trim black-out too, need to take the glass of for propper install anyway
I am digging the emuwings and watching them closely. If you go with one I'd be down to help(drink beer) and check out the install.
