Dominated my front end. Replaced both leaky front axles, end links, tie bar ends, sway bar bushings, and replaced the diff oil. Annihilated the clanks and clunks.

It was also -3F in the garage when I started. Too cold for pics, sorry.

New here, and new to owning a GX. Got the OEM cross bars replaced with something a tad more sturdy, then got roof top tent off the old truck and onto the new cross bars. Next up is getting some floor mats for the front and second row, then looking into some aftermarket stereo options.

Love this truck! Cup holders really are as bad as I've read...

Too easy for the GX470 on Joshua Tree's Berdoo Canyon Road...it was kinda empty on a free day at National Parks due to MLK's Day. Went up and down the toughest section twice. I was by myself, so the video only shows going downhill.

Finally went awning! Had to install it halfway in the garage with 8" of space cause it's POURING here.
tips, tricks, pix?
Install onto factory side rails or do you have aftermarket?

Found this video on Scat's table...

Weighed a couple different options for a long time but I finally pulled the trigger on this Kaon drop down door. Install was simple and its very sturdy, holds up to 22lbs. Digging the stainless steel

Cheers,
Did you order from their website or do they have a US distributor?

The above table reminded me of discussion earlier in this thread and elsewhere RE: swapping prado door panels and internal door actuator (aka handle). I cannot recall the ultimate in this research. Does anyone (reading this thread) know/recall if prado 120 rear door bits will swap into a USDM GX allowing factory door opening from the inside? I know there are slight differences between the brands (e.g. external handles are different) but will internal door bits swap allowing a factory way to open the door from inside.

I know there are a few mods here people have done to allow this, and they're clean and easy-looking too, but the table above just stoked the inquiry again...

scats table up above is probably the cleanest I've seen of that type mounted on the back door.

As far as The Prado door being compatible with a usdm GX model I'm not sure, but I was thinking that I might be able to pull the door handle from a Toyota Corolla or similar car from a junkyard and install it on the back swing out door somehow.

I'm not quite sure but I want to say the rear door handle was compatible but finding/shipping the parts was a pain. I do know that one or two members on here rigged up a pull cable that allowed them to open the rear door from the inside and it seemed relatively simple. Hopefully they chime in...

I don't have a factory rack - it's an 80/20 frame on Gamiviti towers. I cut 3 brackets out of 3" aluminum angle to support the lower channel of the awning along the length of the side rail. 6 bolts through the side rail in the top channel and 6 bolts through the brackets in the bottom channel.

Yeah, That's kind of how I remember it too. I recall seeing 2 DIY, and yeah pretty simple builds. AIR all thread and/or steel cable, straight pull, up from latch erupting on the driver side, close to the class. I remember they were clean and functional.

@runningdrew : yeah, i don't yet have the cross-model toyota eye, but yeah, i've seen similar handles that I could see working inside. Heck, I think Rav$ external (gen 3?) look similar to the GX side handles.....
Do Ravs have an inside handle? FJs?

2015 Rav4s dont have a hand like the one above, but i want to say it does have some kind of pull handle. My wife has one but hers is an automatic lift with a button

So 2015 is 4th gen? hatch rear door vs swing out..

*edit, research done...* 1st - 3rd gens are swingout, then 4th + is a hatch gochya

Oh, I wasn't saying the Corolla handle would match, just some random car door handle could be fitted, maybe to be used on the inside, cutting the rear oqnel to fit. However I think someone responded to that idea that there wasn't enough space to recess a loner handle into the GX back door panel....? They also said the pull direction to release hatch is up, hence the pull up tabs others have installed.

Drove around in GA and explorered an abandoned research reactor they used to develop a nuclear airplane

Wrenching weekend!

LCAs, CVs, tie rod ends and sway bar links. Goodbye money and hello clunk-free driving.

Did you go with OEM LCAs? What do you think the culprit of the clunking was? I noticed mine clunking recently with the 0 degree temps. I have an appt. next week to get it looked at but it would be nice to give them a starting point.

Yeah OEM everything except CVs. Not sure what exactly was causing the clunking (I could feel it in the footwell) but the tie rod and LCA boots were pretty shot. How are your sway bar bushings?

Sway bar bushings look alright. I think it’s my LCAs.
