everything else looks so good, you have to get rid of those crap auto store terminals on your alternator and get some good quality phillips heatshrinkable ones that won't welcome corrosion

Well my piggy got 2 new tires today and will be getting a power steering upgrade next.

Yep, PS going into mine in the next week or so as well. I have all th parts on thier way. I'm going with the mini truck PS and got a Rock Lobster bracket ( same thing as in above photos). Mounted the Sag pump already. I am over 6 foot and installed a smaller diamter steering wheel a while ago so PS should make life a bit better with that micro wheel I have to crank on. Almost broke my hand on the steeringwheel last weekend out wheeling when I hit a rock a wee bit too hard.

Added a smaller wheel myself today from an '84 minitruck to complete my power steering conversion. Thicker rim, about 1.5 inches smaller in diameter. Great mod and simple install! Also finished up modifying the transmission hump to accomodate different locations for the tranny and tcase shifters and the addition of the overdrive shifter.

One question on your install,
The pitman arm that connects the box to the drag link... that looks like the pitman arm off of your original manual box. Is that correct? I am looking at my mini truck box and it looks like I need to swap that arm with the one on my original manual box since my drag link will not attach to the pitman arm on the mini truck box.

If that is what you did, was that a straight across transfer? I have read others that did that but wanted to make sure. It seems easy enough ( once it is off) to center the box by turning it lock to lock and then install the old pitman arm.

Thanks for your help. Can't wait to turn the tires in the driveway with one arm... or maybe a couple fingers....

That is the FJ55 pitman arm. You do have to swap out the minitruck arm. Direct swap, splines match. Need a strong puller. We actually found it necessary to cut off the minitruck arm. The 55 one was easier as we'd had it off about two years ago when resealing the manual box while doing the body swap.

The power steering box is Scout box #7211 . Available at Pep Boys $180.00 lifetime. The pitman arm is jeep ( ya I know ) off an early model . Tie rod ends ate fj80. I installed a steering box off a Toyota PU and when you turn the steering wheel right the truck went left . Whoops. So that how I ended up with a Scout box.

I dropped my frame and body off to get media blasted! Body work in store for the fall/winter

Drove the bucket around and did some doughnuts in the field. Climbed a little hill and a little rock pile. It's running great with the new HEI finally in. Happy it's finally running and drivable again.

Topping off power steering install

After installing mini-truck power steering, the old "school bus" steering wheel and its "armstrong" leverage was no longer needed. Here's the result, after spending $15 at the pick and pull and drilling a couple of holes for the pins that cancel turn signals. Wheel is from a "84 minitruck, about 1.5" smaller in diameter and a thicker rim. Feels and works great!

No more engine for Piggers... Pulled out the old hunk of iron and the 4 speed. Then removed all the emissions equipment. Getting closer to diesel!

By the way, anyone need/want the engine and/or transmission? I need parts funds...

I have an engine out of an 83 MBZ 300D, and a 90 Toyota 5 speed. The adapter is on its way from Brian at TD swaps. Can't wait to hear it purr along. I've adjusted the valve clearances, replaced the water pump, and swapped the glow plugs. Still have a main seal to do, finish polishing the valve cover, replace the rubber on the turbo oil drain tube, and some other things to tidy the engine up before it goes in.

I'm also trying to make a bracket for Mercedes bucket seats. Found a manual pair, and I think they'll work pretty well with a narrow console.

sounds good, i thought about the merc engine for mine but thought the isuzu made more sense. i am interested in your driving impressions once its all done, i know a few in 40's and they drive good, i am curious about a heavier pig. you will like the tranny for sure, smooth and well spaced gears.
