You're going to remove all of the "character" of that little 70 Series one part at a time. :)

Oh no. Quite the opposite.

I am replacing parts that would need to replaced just like any other machine on an "hour schedule."

You know this better than anyone Charles. ;)

Just submitted at 45 piece order to Japan. Let's see how many of them they can find. :)

The real question..... How many parts will the USPS or UPS lose or destroy during the shipping process?
Rob shipped a LED dome light from his house to the shop (a distance of 2 miles) in a effort to test a new style shipping container. It arrived broken. :bang:

I fixed the lack of illumination for the HVAC controls and the lower switch panels .... :)

I broke the freaking temperature slider on the HVAC controls after reinstalling while testing function (it don't now ) :censor::censor::flush:

Dang Sam, sorry to hear that!

I removed the top yesterday to get ready to install the new glass and windshield frame. Sadly, my attempt to reuse the OEM chrime trim around the windshield gasket was an utter failure, so I sent an email off to @beno asking him to get me the standard windhsield rubber gasket that I should've just ordered the first time around.

Since then, I've been resisting the strong urge to take the grinder out and cut off the rear door uppers! Would look so good topless without those silly rear door uppers in the way!

Fortunately the Summers are short and mild in the South. :hillbilly:

I'm dealing with the same thing. I took it apart but the plastic pin that holds the cable is shot so I've ordered the whole assembly. Also, the slider knob just crumbled into pieces when I pulled it off. Sheesh. I hope I see it before I need AC. It's stuck at about 3/4 heat.
Let's just say the conversation I had with the thing is not suitable for MUD, ladies or children. Kinda sounds like you had the same discussion. Good luck.

I refrained from using the 3lb hammer

But just barely ;)

I stepped it up today. I replaced the low budget after market $6 fuel cap

With a bright new shiny high dollar locking cap to replace the original high dollar locking one that fell off because I didn't have it on right. Doh!

It is now the shiniest thing in the truck.

Just to be clear, the repair budget isn't coming out of Saturday nights beer and food budget?

Nope ... Unless the repair costs more than what I just sold the tires and wheels that came on the 73 for .... Gotta love it when the buyer does not haggle when your pricing includes haggle room :)

Obviously I need to spend some time polishing my fuel caps. :)

You know you can get the correct diesel Toyota fuel cap for about $9...

:)

The locking one is a Toyota cap. It even came with two keys.

Oh, and I did get the one you're referring to as well.

I figure with my luck it's just a matter of time before I lose the locking one in which case I'll have an OEM as a back up...

New wiper arms to replace the old/paint-peeled/rusty ones on my 70.

Correct part numbers:

Notice the screw to allow the wiper to bend forward when the windshield is placed in its down position:
