This project started a couple of weeks ago when I started to replace the whistling wing window vent gaskets until I discovered the vent window frames had rusted and deteriorated. The new frames arrived last week so I got on it and got them done.

For my truck, I provided the following:

"Declaration: Importation of Motor Vehicles and Motor Vehicle Equipment Subject to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety, Bumper and Theft Prevention Standards": OMB NO. 2127-0002. This shows that the vehicles is exempt from these standards. (25 years or older)

"US EPA Declaration Form: Importation of Motor Vehicles and Motor Vehicle Engines Subject to Federal Air Pollution Regulations": OMB 2060-0095. This shows that the vehicle is exempt from these standards (21 years or older)

"US Dept. of Homeland Security: Entry and Immediate Delivery": OMB NO 1651-0024. This shows the vehicle is legally in the US.

I also had to provide Japanese Export Certification that the vehicle left Japan legally.

These all had to be signed, witnessed, etc. by the importer. Toyota needed all of these on file to release the part to me as an off-line order. The part is available in the US.

I appreciate your patience with me in asking why this is necessary to purchase parts states side? Being new to the scene, would ordering something from mexico or south america and shipping states side be a viable alternative?

If someone could school me on this to better understand the challenges, that would be great. Also, i still have family overseas where my troopy sold very well, RHD as well. Would i face any challenges with him sourcing parts and shipping to me?

Thanks!
-Andrew

Wait ... There's supposed to be one there?

You know whom to call Sam.

:)
Yup, I do .... @cruiserdan! ;) :rimshot:

In all seriousness, I learned from a couple of sailboats I have owned never to complete the "to do" list. On a boat, it will sink as soon as you complete it ... I don't want to think about what would happen to the cruiser. This might not be a bad item to leave on the permanent "to do" list .... Not that I have to worry about getting to the end of the list anytime soon. :)

Getting your A/C working needs to move up the list. :grinpimp:

I meant speeding...
You can speed?
Man I've got to get a 77 Series.
I can also speed (through a school zone).
I've always anticipated getting a citation for going to slow (especially up a hill) and holding up traffic.

YES!!!!!!!

Can't wait for my new front bumper Jason.

Let me know when you are ready.....

Er...... I'll let you know when I have the front of my truck in a position to accept a new front bumper..... You gotta see the booger weldz on my front bumper for the plow extension. Crazy.

I HAVE!!! I saw those on the LCD site :eek: I think I gave you a rundown on them in one of our emails/PMs.

Yeah, they are significantly worse than the pictures.

It is going to be a miracle for me to cut/plasma off those welds and extensions to the point where I can see the captive nuts on the frame rail to accept a new bumper.

Sucks. Going to be difficult.
