How clean does your Cruiser need to be to tow him back into town?
(Sorry, l usually don't pick on other brands, but in this case I couldn't refrain) 😅

Took my youngest on a 4 day trip, having no front diff yoke oil seal, determined 4×2 most of the day and early mornings of fresh smelling oil fillings....going 4 low and lockers only when absolutely necessary...

Best time I've had in years.
On the way back, we've stopped at the shop and installed the forgotten oil seal, which waited patiently in the mechanic's drawer...

So, all is good and good to go for the next trip.
Some pics attached, cheers 🍻

My favorite moment of driving Colorado's Alpine Loop last summer was being escorted past about a dozen neon-lit, rented side-by-sides (complete with boom boxes and rap music) to access one of a pair of Discovery's. 1988 PTO winch and snatch block allowed me to drag the damaged one sideways far enough for others to get by. Seems they had terrible transmission problems.

Texas Lonestar Roundup this weekend , I took the FJ60 crawler there but the wife came a day later with Tweety . 750 mile round trip plus a bit of sightseeing on the rocks for Tweety . We had a good representation of 70 series this year , we should’ve gotten 2 more but those gentleman have softops and appear to be afraid of a bit of rain 😉

My last experience with side by side drivers, and seems to be the same all over the world, is bad manners, overpassing from the right, throwing stones at you....and blocking the dirt road completely 5 minute later, making you over pass them on the rocks just to get by.

I try to avoid them whenever I'm in the desert....

Not trying to offend anyone or underrate the technical magnificent properties of the machines....just sharing my experience...

And that's without discussing the pallets they burn at night, leaving all the nails afterwards....

Much prefer the older guys with the 25+ year old machines.

rebuilt the transfer with an under drive gear kit (Terrain Tamer) to get torque back to oem specs. my poor 1HZ engine had struggled ever since i threw on 33" tires, and now she's herself again. not cheap, but worth every penny. i swear my vehicle feels happy. huge thanks to cruiser brothers for hooking me up and big thanks to georg, who is very generous sharing his knowledge via phone calls and youtube vids alike. imho this mod is essential for any 1HZ to power larger tires.

Threw on some load bars, changed the diff oil and torqued a bunch of bolts. Going to build a rear winch bumper, add some rock lights, diff breathers, prp seats and maybe a snorkel. Have Moab, Rubicon, Ouray and Dusy-Ershim trail runs coming up. Lets roll

Finally got the leaky steering box pulled! So off to get rebuilt then I can get this sucker back on the road.

I could not have done it without this flare nut crow’s foot from Tekton to remove the power steering lines. Every other flare nut wrench was starting to round the nut before it would give. Thankfully these are deep enough to cover the entire fitting so no damage was done.

Sometimes you can clamp down on the outside of a line wrench/crows foot with a set of vise grips to keep the wrench from spreading. Always better to have a top quality tool though.
