This last weekend was the first time I had ever loaned my truck out for someone else to drive. It was kinda cool seeing someone else put it through the paces. 😊View attachment 3442645
I let some 18 year old kid drive my truck the other night just because he knew it was a 70 series landcruiser, it was after a construction work beer meeting that lasted a few, in retrospect it probably wasnt the best decision, but I kinda felt I had to because I knew it was something he wouldnt forget, I could see the gleam in his eye 😄 and after all we were way out on buddies property so not a lot of risk.
I may have started another prospective landcruiser enthusiast on his quest

Well in my case the gentleman driving my Cruiser was a close friend with years of 70 Series experience. 😊
Unfortunately his 70 Series had suffered last minute mechanical issues.

Local law enforcement all use Hilux.
Few Troopies around here, too. But also many Mitsubishi and Nissan.
For hauling people up to remote destinations, Mitsubishi Delica are popular.

Cheers Ralf

We're starting to see some Delicas get imported here. Yuppies buy them because they're adorable little moon buggies, great for Instagram. But guess what? They're slow. So guess what? People put turbos on them. Then guess what? They blow up.

The song remains the same, as they say.

This past weekend I noticed what appeared to be a funky looking car with yellow fog lights behind me and then it slowly passed me. I noticed it was basically a 90's model two door rav4 but RHD. The girl driving it gave me a thumbs up as she passed by. I rarely see two door rav4 and it was my first time seeing one that is RHD.

Did an oil change, so I got to use one of the reusable, dry-erase oil change stickers that @SnowVersion had made. Need to find a finer tip dry-erase marker, but otherwise very pleased with it.

Got mine back from the mechanic today. Had a bunch of work done including Dobinson's 2.5" lift kit and steering damper, 10 blade fan upgrade, 76 degree thermostat, Front end rebuild, manual hub conversion, brake calipers rebuilt, brake rotors surfaced with new pads, and timing belt with new water pump. Finally have it driving much less like my grandpa's tractor.

Our 18yo friend and her 20 yo boyfriend who are our regular house sitters know where the keys are to all the vehicles here, but they only know how to start the 80... that leaves the HJ45 and Scat safe as they are a bit harder to start (glow plugs on the 45, disconnected battery and choke on the scat). The 80 has been out on some trips with him because he could.

Big weekend for the 70 here, the engine came out, the flywheel came off and the flex plate came off the 13BT that's going in to replace the 3B.

What is the paint code for that color?

Had just enough clutch left for a short 2 hour loop to the mountain above home.
Tried to capture a shot to rise up to @fjb's standards, with lower than expected results.....
Now need to order an upper and lower kit for the clutch pumps....

Dark photos are hard to get without a good camera. I messed around with it to get a few different looks.

This me reminds me of an old brochure.

Spent a little over an hour getting the C-channel on the window regulator to stay attached to the window on the rear passenger door. I'm going to go back in later and lube the track so it's less likely to catch again.

Cup holder from BH3D came in but I'll have to modify it. The bottom is curved for some reason and rocks back and forth on the stock center console.

I'm going to order another batch of these reusable, dry erase stickers - one set with "kilometers" and one set with "miles". The stickers are 1.75x2.63" and will be $5 each shipped. PM me if you're interested!

(I changed the sticker slightly and removed the "Rotella T logo from the bottom, since not everyone uses the same oil. The new stickers just have a TEQ logo on the bottom.)

It was time to enhance my stopping ability on the Ute. 😊

Rebuilding the front axle on the 78. Those little axle nut retaining screws on the power locking ring were a bear. Broke almost every T20 bit I had.

And what design engineer decided on hard brake lines going to the calipers, good thing I was already replacing all the soft lines anyways.
