Got the new flexpipe welded in today.My exhaust was about to tear apart near the flex pipe.
Time for some bushmechanic.

Progress! A friend was at GFC getting a camper installed on his F150 so he swung by Overland Cruisers and saw the Troopy... R2.8 is in and he said it looks like they're finishing it up soon. Can't wait to have this thing back!
I installed a 12v Odysee PC680 AGM Battery and Victron 24v/12 Volt 70 Amp converter and am using that to charge the 12v Battery. I didn't want the battery in the passenger compartment so I made a battery tray to fit the only area I was comfortable putting it. I put in two 24v relays, one for switched power to the 12v sub system and the other to kill power to the converter when I shut the truck off. The converter is supplying the 12v battery with 13.8 volts and there was no magic smoke so it all appears to be working correctly. Hopefully this is the fix for all the battery ills, swapping batteries every two weeks was not an answer for me.

Replaced the starter on the BJ73. Water submersion in a mudhole at windrock killed the plunger in the original ND unit. New starter is a unit sold for toyota forklifts and is "clocked" a bit different, but it fits and works fine. Going to keep the old unit to either rebuild and sell or keep in case my cheap forklift starter goes out sooner than later. My fuel cutoff solonoid is getting flaky again so I've ordered a replacement. Hope to be running good again soon.
While driving the 77 back from work, I noticed the Escape Gear seat covers were getting dirty so I removed the front seat covers and hand washed them per instructions on the tag then hanged them to dry out. They came out looking like new again. These covers are doing their job too because the OEM fabric on the ZX seats show zero wear. Worth every penny.
Met up with a few cruiser-dudes in the area last night.
I completed sound deadening the inside front, and installed a coded lockbox with a spare door key (that won't start the ignition). I've already locked myself out once, and could see myself doing something stupid when I'm in a more difficult situation than being just down the road. It's in a rubber case, and close to the hitch so I think it'll survive the elements

You for sure know Andrew St Pierre White from SA/AUS? He recently bought himself a vintage 40+ yo Rangerover. He found the original spare keys being tied to the chassis rail with some wire.
Hey, if some Rangrover keys can survive the elements some 40+ years, the keys of a sturdy, reliable Landcruiser should survive even longer. Shouldn't they ?
