The tricky part is swapping the needle without damaging the magnetic cup.

Where did the new needle come from?

I replaced the broken speedo needle in my PZJ70 that was what appears to be a bad repair by a previous owner that failed a few weeks ago, leaving me without a needle to determine my speed. Not like I have to worry about breaking speed limits in it anyways but it still bugged the hell out of me.

Popping off the old broken one was a bit nerve-racking but it did come off and replacement went on easily.

I need to do this soon

I need to do this soon

This tool with a piece of thick paper under it will make the removal easier. Just have to go slow and take your time as I did.

Drove out to TITO (Thanksgiving in the Owyhees), I think this was our 19th year.

Weather change on Friday, what we were expecting on Thanksgiving Day, glad it held off a few hours.

The temp really dropped this a.m. 16 deg. F at sun-up, driver's door was frozen shut, had to climb through the back to start it up and warm it up enough to open it.

With the holidays I finally made the effort of pulling the troopy in the shop and replace the oem clutch with a heavy duty Terrain Tamer one. My engine and tranny have ony 35k miles on it and the flywheel and oem clutch still looked like new but you could see burn marks on them , after I installed the Turbo and Intercooler the oem clutch let me know pretty fast that she wasn’t to happy about that.
Installed the new clutch and took it out for a spin last night , it feels completely different but as I am breaking it in I haven’t been stepping on it but I have used these in the past with great results.

Thanks to @orangefj45 for getting the tt clutch out to me from there Cruiser Brothers inventory

burn marks on the flywheel from the oem clutch , the oem grooving is still like new and I went over it with a ruler and there where no high spots

I changed the oil yesterday.
Turned the key this morning and was happy the pre-heater kicked in for about 1.5 sec.
The resistor I put in is doing what I want at 45 degrees F.

Thought i'd post this little fix.... if you want some cupholders quickly, just order a couple of these collapsable wall-mount guys, and use the cover as the base. Attach with double sided 3M tape and you're done. This setup has actually held up for a year now. Caveat: they won't hold your cup well on a very bumpy or uphill road. The pinchers can't contain a lot of weight being thrown around. But if you just want a cup of something on the way to work on a paved road, they do the job. Your drink will be up in your field of view a bit, but i don't mind.

Outstanding photos .... thanks for posting.

After the clutch I layed down some more dynamat in the front as the first carpet section was out anyways.
To finish up the weekend I also managed to install the ps Scheelmann seat that was gathering dust in the shop for the past 4 months, it turns out there is just enough room between the 2 seats for my 12v toyota mini cooler for summer .
Next big thing will be the drawers in the back and hooking up the rear battery for all the accessories in the back.
It’s a long slow process to finish this one as I am daily driving it.

I got a similar one, but attached it to the back of armrest console. The front is obviously at an awkward angle.

I opened a box of new parts from Japan, including new rear door "checks" or limiters.
These new parts are a little different from the ones installed in 1988.
Anyone know what the metal lever or flag does?

I will have to modify these deals to prevent the doors from opening too far into my swingout arm hinges.
