Can't you see that the 79 series pictured is totally different than the 7x series with the camper? The camper rig is a regular narrow-nose 70 series while the 79 series is totally different - hood scoop, headlights, everything.

I think your missing the point. The 7x series with the camper is a 79. 79s come in both narrow nose (1999 - 2006) and wide nose (2007 - 2017).

And we can't have either one in the U.S. :frown:

I don't know about that.:hmm:

The wide nose is 100mm wider than the narrow nose. They did this to accommodate the V8 diesel introduced in 07

My apologies - I'm forgetting about the Australian rigs I drool over from the few 4WD Action magazines I'm able to smuggle into the States. Our motto here is "Nothing Hard Gets In." They're pretty amazing.

And I didn't know the 79 series was made in two body styles. I'm slow, but I'll get there....

Love that camper, really love that red color. But it isn't a 79 series is it? Were they Germans? All the best camper rigs seem to be from Germany.
Ive seen this truck in person here in Bozeman a while back! There from Switzerland, they started in Ontairo, Canada crossed all of Canada to alaska then cut back through to Montana going down the Rockies. There headed all the way to Argentina ! The inside of that camper is like a spaceship very cool. They had a company in Switzerland make it. They have a facebook page its called Einmalrundum.

They also turned the 75 series troopy into the 78 series by adding coil suspension to the front. You can also get the 78 series and SWB 70 series in wide and narrow nose.

Hello,

x2.

Their camping solutions are elegant but I would not call them the best there are.

Juan

I found them crammed with too may extras. You cant have a toilet, shower and kitchen on the back of 75 series and still have room to sleep comfortably. They brought some to Australia and displayed them at local 4wd exhibitions. But some of the locally made ones are not much better.

Hello,

I agree. Simplicity is your friend when it comes to going outdoors with a a Land Cruiser. I may be stretching the point here, but if you cannot recline your seat for a nap, then you have too many extras.

what's the top speed on that thing?

They said it gets good mpgs around 70 but if they went above that it started going through diesel. Due to design i would imagine no more than 80, its a large wall to push at that point.

when you say 80, you don't mean mph, do you?

the 70 series forum gives the 70 series a bad wrap. my bj74 will pretty happily do 70mph down the highway.

Took fresh turbo install out to the proving grounds. 75 mph. No sweat at 8 pounds of boost. The tires worked perfect in 6 inches of fresh snow. Dug down n hooked up beautifly. Can climb hills in 2nd that you never could before. The biggest bonus is the ability to get around slow traffic ie. pass!!will check mileage as the hiway run is routine to hunting camp. Don't know if it's just coincidence but the heat is quite good after install of 4 core rad. Previous one choked v badly. On trails never could use more than 6 lbs. way too slippery on tight trails to play. New lights (Lumens) are v good but do not get hot enuff to melt off ice n snow. Glad we got glass lenses as they will need to be scraped, hopefully when it gets proper cold;because they are cold they won't melt falling snow. Running no muffler it's a bit loud at the tailpipe.

Spent a ridiculously large amount of time wiring the front LED bar, fog lights, CB antenna and 4# power and ground for the auxiliary panel.

The fun continues back in the cargo area:
