Finally took care of that annoying passenger side shaky mirror, by depositing it at eighty miles an hour on the Pa. Turnpike!

Got the top off the 40 last week, she's all ready for nice weather. Had to do some cosmetic paint work on the old girl since she sat outside all winter long, looks good again! glad the paint on the tub is rattle-can compatible. I'll be enjoying it as soon as it stops raining. And.......I ordered a Dakota Digital instrument cluster for the 40. Tired of poor lighting and speedometer problems. It's on its way from South Dakota and I am hopeful that installation is as simple as I am led to believe. Stay tuned! Gary

What are the specs on that build? Axles, lift, drivetrain, etc. I think I remember it has a double transfer case doesn't it? and FJ60 PS. I'm gonna pop the top off Ramblin' Wrek when I get the chance. Fingers crossed for this weekend. I never have enough time to work on it.

Mike- if you'd retire like I did you'd have plenty of time (yuk yuk). The 40 has a Jim C built hi-po 2F engine, manafre header. Stock 4 speed with a Marlin doubler behind it. Axles are FJ62 with 4.88 gears, Detroit Locker in the back and an FJ80 e-locker in the front. Four wheel disc brakes with an 80 master cylinder. Sprung over, FJ60 PS with hydraulic assist. Ironpig sliders, skidplate and anti-wrap bar. Ironpig rear bumper, front bumper maker unknown. Warn 8274. Full Metal tech rollcage tied into the frame at six places. Metal tech tube doors in the summer. Procar seats, very comfy and a Tuffy console. She's a good old girl and will be better when i get the new instrument cluster installed.

Very cool, but...who is Mike?

In brazened by a successful lift of a 2f to the ceiling with this hoist, I decided a "maximum" weight lift was in order....to nearly the ceiling.
Yeah I'm really good at making poor decisions, and coming out on top.

Opened up the thermostat housing to address what I believed to be a stuck-open thermostat (truck takes an eternity to warm up).

Turns out the thermostat was fine, but did find out it was time for a new water neck.

Shockingly - this thing was still holding a seal...

I also replaced the fuel pump. I'm pretty sure the old one was leaking fuel into the crank case.

I was hoping a new pump would also hold fuel in the line and not have it back-drain - no such luck on that front. The fuel still disappears out of my filter after a few hours of sitting.

Then, of course, I had to test drive it to confirm everything worked. Drove it into town to grab some gormet coffe for a snobby friend. I'll stick to Maxwell House.

Beautiful day for a drive - and the truck performed admirably. Once I drop in a new clutch and patch up all the oil leaks, this thing should actually be just about 100%!

Then I'll sit back and stare into the abyss of bodywork...

I installed a new suction tube assembly in the fuel tank and replaced to hoses on the fuel lines in the 60 on sat. Next in line is head gaskets and timing belt on a Subaru. Then on to the 80/62 project for a customer. I'm going to also try to sneak my 55 in there so I can get the Trans and transfer case in along with a rear axle rebuild.

Insides done. Got all the loose parts painted this morning for the 40. Gary the doors from you came out great. Started the tub and the electric goes out hopefully I can finish later tonite or tomorrow morning so close I wanted to be driving by Wednesday

Just completed my frame up rebuild on our trailer. In mid rebuild my better half remarked how nice it would be to have an H2O spigot up next to the Stove.. I just couldn't deny her logic..

As usual it's been busy in Brockton.........trying to finish up t installation of a Dakota Digital instrument cluster in my 40- going well but I am having speedometer diiculties. Nothing to do with the DD unit, I hasve a bad nylon speedo driven gear and need to replace it. I put in a used one I had but it didn't last too long- as I expected. Gonna get back into it today to try to resolve. Otherwise I love the new dash it's better in every way than the stock unit.
Check out the pictures- en delp and I tailered home a really original and unmolested 74 FJ40 on Tuesday. It is rusty and hasn't been on the road for some time but it's interesting nevertheless. Check out the vintage all terrains! No tread on them they are old- size is 10-15! Has Sears manual locking hubs too, a trip down memory lane..

Very cool! I was in Canada last week fishing and this was parked in a lot across from a hotel we stayed at on the way up. I stood there and scratched my head for awhile as to how to get it home.
