hows that thing pass inspection with that much tire hanging out?

Even as a friend, he didn’t get stickers at my shop. I don’t mind turning a blind eye to some small stuff here and there, but that thing is like driving down the road barking into a bullhorn.

@Pacer i have two of those under hood lights. One for home, one for work. Mine are a bit older and use a cord and fluorescent bulb but do the job just fine. They also work well to open the doors and hang for interior work.

Garage build progress, month 14 or so...typical case of the cobblers shoes...

Finally have drywall hung!

The holidays have been keeping me busy and weird work schedule, trying to get the silver 4Runner ready for the trails has proved challenging.

For Christmas, my buddy Woody (some of you have met) took note to how cool I thought the air down tool Vince and Andy have is and got me one:

Then I have been chasing a vibration at 70mph for the longest time. Couple things I did was steering rack bushings which were a little shot, and installed new rims and had them balanced while I have my other 17" wheels powder coated:

And finally as a present to myself for just being awesome (and painting rooms in the house) I bought myself my first set of 35s!

Baby steps, hopefully this spring or summer I'll be back out on the trails

Glad to see you getting some garage time, Tom!!!!!
Ya, me too. Working at night after putting kids to bed, the cold doesn’t hepl tho.
Had wood burning stove parts all set up with chimney pipes but i had to bring all my cruisers into garage because neighbors called town on me for having to many cruisers in back yard. So there’s no room for stove at the moment.

Thats 2nd time they called town on me. 1st time i was levelling my back yard. Town showed up and i had to get permit from town.
They probably called again when i was building my detached garage, I had permits all pulled before hand so they had no case.

My 80 has become a daily driver due to some numb nuts running a stop sign. Totaled my wife's van. No injuries fortunately.

Of course the first day to work, and I smell burning brakes when I get there. Left rear caliper dragging. Got that replaced yesterday.

Checked the repairs made a few weeks back ... all good with no leaks and no coolant consumed. Had an odd intermittent noise from under the truck at highway speed twice yesterday, so greased the driveshafts and u-joints and topped off the ATF. Possible it is chatter from the brake pads, the inspection shop said the pads looked new, but appeared to not be 100% correct as they were hanging over the edge of the disc. That is a fight for another day.

Decided while the truck was on ramps to change the diff fluid up front. The knuckle seals are shot and I wanted to make sure it wasn't running dry and check for metal. No metal, but the fluid was like green syrup. Time to hit up my Turkish friend for a knuckle kit, but hoping the new fluid holds it over for a couple of months until I can get around to it.

Figured while it was there I should go ahead and put the stock front skid plate back on as well. Had to clean off 22 years of muck and oil first. Looks super clean now, this was about 1/2 way through the process.

Glad I got that done, but it was at the expense of doing prep for the snow by putting the plow, weights and chains on the mower. I will have to go with the fallback plan of snow blower and 15 year old with a shovel I suppose.

I also finished assembling my stand for the spare motor, now just need to get the proper length bolts to get it mounted up. Looking forward to working on that this spring.
