And so it begins..;)

This will be my third one that I’ve built up.
The inside of this one is clean with no rust or chipped teeth to my surprise, the two last builds had rust and a bad gear and shaft which brings the cost Way 🆙

I have all the parts ready for full rebuild, even the Warn 9.5 XP 6hp motor and contactor which was in the tool box for years…

I saw a Warn rating on that setup for 10k lbs (although that may be old news).

Yuppers, that’s why we put the 6hp motor on the 8274 ;) not only fast but powerful as well, it brings out the full potential of what this winch can do

Winching this broken pine top off trail with 8274....it made short work of it ;)

Good job. The 8274 is more than up to that task and the high retrieval speed means you aren't there all day doing it (or spooling line back in).

What you did and other chores like that are what I use mine for 99% of the time. I have mine mounted on a Early Model Bronco that I use around the ranch for all sorts of jobs. I bought my 8274 new in 1983 for $365.00 and lord knows I've gotten my money out of it.

It isn't the right winch for everyone....but its a damn good winch for a lot of us.

well said 👍

Rats, I went to put a clear coat of Rustoleum over the Rustoleum dark steel and it wrinkled/crinkled..like what?
I wonder if it needed a day to dry..but I didn’t have this problem with the clutch and ratchet as well as my wheels that I used and it’s the exact same spray paint …goodness

I’ll have to say it looks ok though, being somewhat unique…but not sure if it m going to redo it.
