did you ever do anything with your rear heater hoses? Are the ones you removed the ones by the transfer case right around the frame rails?

Turns out I poked a small hole in mine during the install; the one in the trans tunnel. OOps.

I'm thinking about deleting the rear heat entirely.

Yeah I am definetely keeping mine bc Ohio is damn cold in the winter. I bought new PHH heater hoses and put them in before the engine. turns out the routing down low where it goes over the frame rail was right in the way of my exhaust. So I shortened them up and am tig welding 8an ends on the pipes and using ss braided all the way back.

I made big headway on the wiring today. By getting rid of the toyota tranny control there are far less wires than before. Of course the bulk of the wires were cut out when the 1fzj came out awhile back.

I test fit the harness I had altered from the factory trailblazer SS. It worked out nice and fits pretty good. The ECU,TCU and Relays are going to be mounted in between the master cylinder and the underhood electrical panel.

The transfer case shifter relocator bracket from Marks is not correct. I have to redesign and make new to get it to fit in the original position.

For radiator hoses I ordered a set of Trailblazer SS hoses. My thoughts are they should go in the approx direction of the Toyo in and outs's. If they are off course I can move the inlet and or outlet easily on the aluminum radiator.

Hopefully I will be turning the key before the new year.

This bracket holds the GM ECU TCU and Relays needed to run the LS2. Mounts where the ABS used to be. I will powder coat this and permanently install the wiring harness. I am making one more bracket that attaches to the engine coils bolts and secures the main body of the harness to the engine.

Awesome Kirk. Epic as usual.

I'm glad to have been a part of of V.1 and V.2 in "labor" ways.

:)

Well I owe you for getting me started on V2 I am glad you convinced me to burn the midnight oil when you were here. Hope to turn the key in 2010.

Thanks
Kirk

Not much else to say except that it's a thing of beauty! Excited to see more and hear of the final results. The LS2 is a great engine, and as has been mentioned I'm sure the better matched tranny (4L70) will provide a big boost in performance and useability.

I've also followed your LT1 buildup superficially in the past, and hate to dredge up the past but did you ever get the old 442 tranny shifting better, or did you install the aftermarket tranny computer?

If i recall previously you were looking for a supra fuelpump option, but I wasn't sure what you settled on. Are you still using that same pump now, or do you have something else lined up?

Any plans for the old LT1 engine? (possible an upcoming project for Beno's rig?)

Thanks for sharing your build with us, lots of time and talent invested. Great work.

The aftermarket tranny computer helped a ton on the A442. My stopping point was with the torque converter. I believe the torque convertor in that tranny was shot and could not hold lockup with the V8 I think once the tranny gets 150k or more on it the lockup is about shot. The 1fz cruises/locks up at such a low rpm I think it wears out the lockup materials faster. So to take the A442 to the next level I would have needed to start cutting converters apart rebuilding and changing stall speeds to get the results. This is a big job I did not want to invest the time into.

I think the 4l70e is a much easier path to head down. If the aftermarket was a little further ahead I would have taken a shot at one of the LS3/ GM 6 speed autos. The LS2 4l70 combo I bought was clean and the right price.

The LT1 will sit in my barn and collect dust until I put it on ebay in 20 years. Beno is going toyo diesel is my long term call!
