thanks @White Stripe - I thought that my google skilz were good, but I could not find a "how to" on this.

I am thinking this is what you are talking about. pin 1 and 2 of the albright and hot power going to the controller.

Hey @White Stripe do I need to put this in a waterproof box? Can't find a definative answer; however, the stock box is definately not waterproof.

I was under the impression that the Albright took up the same if not less room than a 4 solenoid system. Of course I don't have an 8274 so I don't know how big the box is. Either way I think your on the right track @2fpower as the old school solenoid setup is the most common malfunction on electric winches. @FZJ80 in KC has an Albright in the winch that I sold him. Maybe he's willing to take a measurement for you.

I'd leave a drain hole in it. I initially sealed my box completely and when I opened it up a few months later there was corrosion on the terminals. I think I documented that in the Badlands waterproofing thread. The solenoids themselves are supposed to be waterproof.

Sure, the size of a single Albright contactor is much less than the four original solenoids. The problem is, the space you need to hook up all the wires to the Albright, plus the clearance you need between the controller plug socket and the Albright, underneath the cover. There are some photos of mine in this thread: Wiring an 8274 + Albright It was a tight squeeze for me.

That looks like everything Kelly needs in that thread that you linked. Maybe one of these days I can be one of the cool kids and have a 40 series with an 8274 :(

Well I've had a wiring gremlin in this car for six months, make that 10 months, and decided to finally attack it as the car supposed to be in a parade next week. When I bought it the turn signals did not work at all, with a very bad switch in the steering column Replace the switch last year, but still had problems. When you hit the brakelights the front left turn signal turns on solid. When you turn on the headlights, and park lights, turn signals don't work at all. First step was to make sure there are good grounds at all four corners. I read several places that the aqualu aluminum tub made redundant grounds necessary. The front turn lights were corroded and bad, So they need replaced. I really like the round look of the older turn lights so I altered the light to use a two filament bulb. To go with the car I plasti- dipped them black. If you look close you can see where I welded the different bulb housing to the bottom

I should mention that I put a redundant ground into this housing. After switching these out, still did not solve the problem. So I assumed it was the new switch in the steering column. So I cut all the wires coming from the switch, then used a hot lead from the battery and the problem continued. So clearly the switch was not the problem. Wires are zip tied really tight together so I unzip tied everything and the problem stopped.

So now I'm going back over all the wires to see if there was a bare spot where power was jumping from one line to another

Well, frustrated, yet happy??? cut all the wire ties off, cut off all the electrical tape. Can't find any burnt area on the wires, can't find any issues, but now everything works.

Back to the list...

button up horn and steering column
bestop soft top install
rear speakers
winch albright install - bluesea disconnect
LED headlights

Progress. Got led headlights installed that are manufactured locally in Kansas City by Peterson manufacturing

I realized when I was helping a friend Delete the abs and laps on 80 series that my brake lines are backwards. The front connection on the master is actually for the rear brakes. So the question is is there a reason for this, should I change it, or does it make a difference?

I used the superwinch Albright with 3 pin controller. I found a wiring schematic online-you just need to search Google a bit. Real estate in the controller box is tight with a Albright so I used a crawlorado box with no hole and drilled a hole in the side using a hole saw.

Not impressed with Crawlorado vendor you linked. My order shows that I ordered the solid box, no hole, but they shipped the one with the hole right in the wrong spot!

I have called and emailed them, with no replies.

Guess I am going to have to file a claim with paypal. Sucks.

Basically they need to send you a replacement "W" without a hole. Contact Awl_teq here on mud and ask him to yell at the owner Trevor for you. I had a bit of issue with crawlorado as well, he did the exact same thing with me. Awl_teq knows the owner of crawlorado and will chew him out for you-he did for me anyway and I got the solid "W" about a week after that.

@Awl_TEQ Can you help a brother out?

Got the winch all wired up and it works!!!

@White Stripe - got an email from Crawlorado that they are going to send me a new W without the hole. Will advise when it shows up.
